An uninterruptable power supply (UPS) is disclosed. The UPS includes an input configured to be coupled to a power source, a backup interface configured to be coupled to a backup power source, a backup interface configured to be coupled to a backup power source and to receive backup power from the backup power source, an output configured to be coupled to a load and to provide output power to the load, a bypass line coupled between the input and the output and configured to provide the input power to the output in a bypass mode of operation, an inverter coupled to the output and configured to provide the output power to the output derived from the input power in an online mode of operation, and a controller. Non-transitory computer readable medium for operating the controller and methods of providing output power to a load from a UPS are also disclosed.

Aspects of the disclosure include a battery module is provided comprising battery terminals configured to be coupled to at least one power device, one or more battery cells configured to store energy, and a battery-management system configured to determine whether a command to operate with the at least one power device has been received, charge, responsive to determining that a command to operate with a first power device has not been received, the one or more battery cells to a first state of charge with power derived from the first power device, and charge, responsive to determining that a command to operate with a second power device has been received, the one or more battery cells to a second state of charge with power derived from the second power device, the second state of charge being greater than the first state of charge.

Examples of the disclosure include a power system comprising an input to receive input power, an output to provide power to a load, a sensor configured to provide load information indicative of power drawn by the load, a plurality of power modules, each having a power module input configured to be coupled to the input, and a power module output configured to be coupled to the output, and a controller coupled to the power modules and the sensor, and being configured to control the power modules to provide power to the output, receive the load information from the sensor, select, based on the load information, at least one power module to maintain in an active state to provide power to the output, and deactivate each power module other than the at least one power module based on selecting the at least one power module to maintain in the active state.

Power supplies and methods of use thereof are provided, where a power supply includes an input configured to receive input AC power an output configured to provide output AC power to a load, at least one power converter coupled to the input and configured to convert the input AC power into the output AC power, a controller coupled the at least one power converter. The controller is configured to adjust at least one parameter of the output AC power provided by the at least one power converter, detect, in response to adjusting the at least one parameter of the output AC power, at least one of an adjusted input AC power or an adjusted output AC power, and determine that a fault has occurred based on the at least one of the adjusted input AC power or the adjusted output AC power.

Method to detect back-feed and mis-wiring events by a UPS system

According to one aspect, embodiments of the invention provide a power circuit comprising an input to receive input AC power from an AC source, an auxiliary charger configured to convert the input AC power from the input into DC power, a differential amplifier configured to be powered by the DC power from the auxiliary charger, to monitor the input AC voltage level of the input AC power, and to generate a sense signal based on a status of the input AC voltage level, and a processor coupled to the auxiliary charger and the differential amplifier, the processor configured to be coupled to an LPS, to be powered into a low power mode by the DC power from the auxiliary charger, and to analyze the sense signal from the differential amplifier in the low power mode of operation. According to one embodiment, the auxiliary charger is an offline DC-DC converter.

AC-OK detection circuit and method

A relay control circuit for use with a relay having a coil voltage input. The relay control circuit includes a first input to receive a first voltage capable of energizing the relay from a de-energized state, a second input to receive a second voltage, less than the first voltage, that is capable of maintaining the relay in an energized state, and means, responsive to a relay control signal having one of a first state and a second state, for switchably coupling the coil voltage input to the first input for a period of time sufficient to energize the relay in response to the relay control signal having the first state, and for switchably coupling the coil voltage input to the second input in response to expiration of the period of time.

An electronic device including first and second line inputs, first and second device inputs, a filter circuit, and a switching circuit. The filter circuit has a first input electrically coupled to the first line input, a second input electrically coupled to the second line input, a first output electrically coupled to the first device input, a second output, and at least one capacitor electrically coupling at least one of the first input to the second input or the first output to the second output. The switching circuit has a control input to receive a control signal, and electrically couples the second output to the second device input in response to the control signal having the first state and electrically couples the second output to one of the first input and the first output through a resistor in response to the control signal having the second state.

An uninterruptible power supply (UPS) having an adjustable battery charger that generates a charger current, and a controller, coupled to the adjustable battery charger, that receives a signal representative of a system constraint and provides a reference, based on the signal, to the adjustable battery charger to control an amplitude of the charger current supplied by the adjustable battery charger based on the system constraint. The system constraint may include, for example, a maximum input current to the UPS, maximum charging current of the battery cell, and maximum and/or minimum charger current values.
