A cylinder block for a fluid pump includes a cylindrical body having a hub bore and a plurality of cylinder bores arranged about the hub bore, a hub insert disposed in the hub bore, and an anti-rotation body configured to prevent rotation of the hub insert relative to the cylindrical body. The cylindrical body and the hub insert together define a channel in which the anti-rotation body is inserted.

Insert and method for manufacturing fluid pump

Additive manufacturing creates, repairs, or upgrades parts. Conventional manufacturing processes are used to prepare a body of the part and additive manufacturing processes are used to prepare intricate geometries of the part. A support structure is used to support the intricate features during the additive manufacturing processes. Particularly, laser sintering is used to create entire parts or to create a repaired or upgraded part by casting the body of the part and integrating the body with a build plate and using laser sintering to develop the intricate features necessary.

A method for manufacturing an engine block is disclosed. In embodiments, the method includes forming an expansion hole in a block body of the engine block that encircles an engine block bore at a head face of the engine block. The method also includes placing an insert into the expansion hole, the insert including an insert body. The method further includes placing a reaction material between the insert and the block body. The method yet further includes forming an insert bond layer between the insert and block body using the reaction material. The method still further includes forming an insert bore through the insert body.

A method for repairing a cylinder liner includes: placing a cylinder liner having a first inner diameter and a first outer diameter into a cavity of a confinement, the cavity including a cavity inner diameter that is substantially the same as the first outer diameter of the cylinder liner; heating the cylinder liner to a temperature at which the cylinder liner undergoes plastic deformation, causing the first inner diameter of the cylinder liner to decrease; and cooling the cylinder liner. The cooled cylinder liner has a second inner diameter that is less than the first inner diameter. An apparatus for repairing a cylinder liner includes a confinement having a cavity and a fluid passageway for controlling the temperature of the confinement, and a heating block for heating the cylinder liner when the cylinder liner is inserted into the cavity.
