A process, composition, and apparatus for carbon dioxide (CO) conversion are disclosed. The COconversion comprises reacting COwith a cyclopropenimine (CPI) to activate the COand transferring the activated COto generate a product of the transferring. The transferring also generates a conjugate acid of the CPI. The process further comprises regenerating the CPI from the conjugate acid.

Cyclopropenimines for activation of carbon dioxide

A process, apparatus, and cyclopropenimine (CPI) material for generating metal carbonates are disclosed. Generating the metal carbonates comprises reacting carbon dioxide (CO) with CPI. Generating the metal carbonates also comprises forming a reaction mixture comprising water, metal cations, and a product of the reacting.

Cyclopropeneimines for capture and transfer of carbon dioxide

A composition, process, and apparatus are disclosed. The composition includes a cyclopropeneimine-carbon dioxide (CPI-CO) adduct. The process includes forming the CPI-COadduct by reacting a CPI with COgas. The apparatus includes components for providing the CPI and mixing the CPI with COgas. The mixing results in formation of the CPI-COadduct.

Various exemplary photoreactions can be provided, including reactions generally based on triplet-triplet annihilation upconversion. Representative photosensitizers include PdPc(OBu)8 and PtTPTNP. Representative annihilators include FDPP and TTBP. Such exemplary photoreactions, systems and methods may be used in a variety of applications, including various biological or physical applications. Exemplary methods can also be provided for making or using such systems, photoreactions, kits including such systems, or the like.

Triplet fusion upconversion for infrared-sensitized photoredox chemistry

The present invention provides soluble, stable singlet fission (SF) compounds, compositions, materials, methods of their use, and methods for their preparation that provide efficient intramolecular singlet fission (iSF) and multiple excitons. The SF compound may be a dimer, an oligomer, or a polymer of polyoligoacenes, where for example, the compound achieves a triplet yield reaching about 200% per absorbed photon. In this system, SF does not depend on intermolecular inter-actions. Instead, SF is an intrinsic property of the molecule and therefore occurs independent of intermolecular interactions. Singlet fission has the potential to significantly improve the photocurrent in single junction solar cells and thus raise the Shockley-Queisser power conversion efficiency limit from about 33% to about 46% or greater. Quantitative SF yield at room temperature has only been observed in crystalline solids or aggregates of higher acenes.

Quantitative intramolecular fission in oligoacenes, materials, and methods of use thereof

Embodiments of the present invention provides compounds, compositions, and methods for their preparation that provide efficient intramolecular fission, such that local order and strong nearest neighbor coupling is no longer a design constraint. Inventive materials include organic oligomers and polymers designed to exhibit strong intrachain donor-acceptor interactions and provide intramolecular singlet fission, whereby triplet populations can be generated in very high yields of, e.g., 170% or more. The inventive disclosure is directed to polymers of the general formula: [SA-SD]n with a strong electron acceptor (SA), a strong electron donor (SD), and n a positive integer equal to or greater than two; methods for their preparation and monomers used therein, blends, mixtures and formulations containing them; the use of the polymers, blends, mixtures and formulations as semiconductors in organic electronic (OE) devices, especially in organic photovoltaic (OPV) devices, and to OE and OPV devices comprising these polymers, blends, mixtures or formulations.

Molecular compositions, materials, and methods for efficient multiple exciton generation

The present invention provides, inter alia, a process for incorporating a cyclopropenium ion into a polymeric system. Processes for making cross-linked polymers, linear polymers, and dendritic polymers, as well as for incorporating a cyclopropenium ion onto a preformed polymer are also provided. Further provided are stable, polycationic compounds, various polymers that contain stable cyclopropenium cations, and substrates containing such polymers. The use of these polymers in water purification systems, antimicrobial coatings, ion-transport membranes, cell supports, drug delivery vehicles, and gene therapeutic vectors are also provided.
