The present invention relates to a method for controlling power ramps with prediction in intermittent power generation plants, such as, for example, a photovoltaic solar plant, which minimizes the storage capacity required for compliance with the maximum ramp requirements for power fluctuation as well as the cycling of said storage systems, thus extending its lifespan and also reducing associated energy losses, thus reducing investment costs in the plant, such that, in order to achieve the same maximum fluctuation ramp, a minor use is made of the energy storage system.

The present invention is a method for the control of power ramp-rates minimizing energy storage requirements in intermittent power generation plants, such as for example a photovoltaic solar plant, which minimizes the energy storage requirements approximately halving the size of storage systems necessary to comply with a maximum allowable ramp-rate given by a grid code regulation regarding the state of the art, reducing thus investment costs in the plant and/or carrying out a rationalized use of the energy storage system, in such a way that in order to achieve the same maximum fluctuation ramp, a minor use is done of the energy storage system, minimizing the losses and extending its working life, and therefore reducing the plant operational costs.

Method for the control of power ramp-rates minimizing power storage requirements in intermittent power generation plants

It stands out mainly for consisting of a nested configuration of electrolysis units (), independently operated, the nominal power values of which are descendant in such a manner that, for any unit of the system, the sum of the nominal power of the smaller electrolysis units () is always greater than or equal to the 'dead band' (DB) of said units, allowing reduction of the dead band of said hydrogen production system () to negligible levels, avoiding loss or discharge of the energy generated in said renewable power stations, preferably one or several wind farms () formed by a group of wind turbines (), connected to the power grid () as a consequence of the implementation of a primary control service therein or, in general, of any other active power control service, thereby optimizing the total energy obtained.

A process for simultaneously providing capacity sale services (e.g. frequency regulation or voltage regulation), energy sale services (energy transfer from off-peak hours to peak hours), and stabilization services of a renewable plant may be provided. The invention relates to a control method applicable to structures for converting direct current/alternating current, dc/ac, especially for photovoltaic systems. The control method according to the invention enables the switching losses of the semiconductors to be reduced, thereby improving the efficiency of the conversion structure.
