An illuminating device acceding to the present invention has light sources, a light guide body which emits lights incident from the light sources, and a blurring structure, and, on the surface opposing to the emission surface of the light guide body, the light deflection elements which guide lights incident from the light sources toward the emission surface are formed regularly in two-dimensional direction of the first direction and second direction. The blurring structure has a function of blurring the light deflection elements regularly formed in the two-dimensional direction, and this blurring structure converts incident lights into linear lights inclined in the direction of the angle &#x3b8; with respect to the first direction.

Illuminating device and display device

In an optical sheet which is used for light control illumination in a backlight unit for a display, in order from an incident side of an illuminating light, there are provided at least a light scattering layer which scatters the illuminating light toward an outgoing surface side, an adhesion layer or an adhesive layer, a light reflection layer which reflects light scattered by the light scattering layer toward the light scattering layer side, and a lens sheet whose flat rear face is fixed to the other side of the light reflection layer, and in which a plurality of unit lenses are disposed on the surface. Opening portions corresponding to the respective unit lenses one-to-one are provided to the light reflection layer, and thickness of the adhesion layer or the adhesive layer is thinner than that of the light reflection layer.

Optical sheet, and backlight unit and display using the same

When illumination light is externally incident on a liquid crystal display, of the incident light, light of a polarized component in one direction passes through a polarizing film to reach a liquid crystal panel. After the light reaching the liquid crystal panel is optically rotated in accordance with the display pattern displayed on the liquid crystal panel, it reaches a polarizing film. The light passing through the polarizing film enters a holographic reflector. The incident light passes through a hologram without being diffracted due to the angle selectivity of the hologram. Light passing through the hologram is regularly reflected by a metal reflective layer arranged on the back surface of the hologram to be incident on the hologram again. Incident light (reflected light) is incident on the hologram at an incident angle having a plus or a minus sign reverse to the previous incident light. The incident light matches the angle selectivity of the hologram, and is transmitted and diffracted at a specific angle to become diffracted light. The diffracted light passes through the polarizing film, the liquid crystal panel, and the polarizing film again to reach observer's eyes as pattern display light.

Holographic reflector and reflectiver liquid crystal display using it

The present invention provides a light scattering film, including a plurality of first transparent regions each having a fibril-like cross section, and a plurality of second transparent regions differing in refractive index range from the first transparent region, wherein each of the first transparent regions is positioned to permit the long axis of the fibril-like cross section to cross one main surface of the film and to permit each of the fibril-like cross sections of the first transparent regions to be sandwiched between adjacent second transparent regions in a direction of the short axis of the fibril-like cross section. The present invention also provides a liquid crystal display device, having a liquid crystal panel and a light scattering film formed on one main surface of the liquid crystal panel.
