In one embodiment, a method includes accessing, by one or more of the computing devices, one or more translations for each text string of a plurality of text strings; determining, by one or more of the computing devices, a priority value for each text string of the plurality of text strings, wherein the priority value for the text string is based on one or more reliability-values of the one or more translations for the text string; selecting, by one or more of the computing devices, a particular text string from the plurality of text strings based on its priority value; and sending, to a client system, instructions configured to present a translation prompt comprising the particular text string.

In one embodiment, a method includes send, to a client system of a first user, instructions configured to present a translation prompt comprising a first text string; receive, from the client system, a first input by the first user, wherein the first input corresponds to a first translation for the first text string; and calculate a reliability-value for the first translation based on the first input and a credibility-score of the first user, wherein the credibility-score of the first user is based on responses by the first user to checker-translation prompts, wherein the checker-translation prompts each comprise a control string for which a correct translation is known, and wherein the credibility-score is based on a number of responses by the first user that match the respective correct translations for the control strings.

In one embodiment, a method includes selecting a first text string from a set of text strings to be translated, wherein each text string of the set of text strings is associated with a priority value that is based on a previously-calculated reliability-values of one or more translations for the first text string, and wherein the first text string is selected based on its priority value; sending, to a client system of the user, instructions configured to present a translation prompt comprising the first text string and a translation-input field, wherein the user is associated with a credibility-score based on prior translation activity; receiving, from the client system, an input by the user corresponding to a translation for the first text string; and calculating a reliability-value for the translation based on the input and the credibility-score of the first user.

An approach is provided for providing information collection using template-based user tasks. The collection platform processes and/or facilitates a processing of partial information for insertion into one or more task templates to cause, at least in part, creation of one or more user tasks to verify, to extend, or a combination thereof the partial information according to one or more system requirements for information. Next, the collection platform causes, at least in part, a distribution of the one or more user tasks based, at least in part, on the one or more system requirements, history information relating to participation of one or more users, or a combination thereof.

Method and apparatus for providing information collection using template-based user tasks

A game kit of components for playing an electronic game or application and an apparatus and method of using the components of the game kit is provided. The game kit may include a plurality of near field communication game pieces including one or more items of data. At least one of the near field communication game pieces is configured to enable transmission of the items of data, via a near field communication, to a device to enable the device to decode the data and translate at least one item of the data to at least one item of virtual data that is included in an electronic game or an application currently being displayed. The near field communication may direct the transmission of the data to the device in response to a detection of the device entering a proximity of the game piece.

Methods, apparatuses and computer program products for using near field communication to implement games and applications on devices

An apparatus for using Near Field Communication to facilitate implementation of an electronic game or application may include a processor and memory storing executable computer program code that cause the apparatus to at least perform operations including receiving data from a device via a Near Field Communication. The computer program code may further cause the apparatus to determine whether the received data was previously detected and translate the received data to correspond to at least one item of virtual data relating to the electronic game or the application in response to determining that the received data is being detected for the first time. The computer program code may further cause the apparatus to enable display of the item of virtual data in a virtual world of the electronic game or the application. Corresponding methods and computer program products are also provided.
