A heat exchanger is disclosed. The heat exchanger includes a hollow tube extending from a tube inlet to a tube outlet. The hollow tube includes a wall that includes a core of a first aluminum alloy, and a cladding over the core of a second aluminum alloy. The second aluminum alloy is less noble than the first aluminum alloy and includes an alloying element selected from tin, indium, or gallium, or combinations thereof. A first fluid flow path is disposed along an inner surface of the wall from the tube inlet to the tube outlet, and a second fluid flow path is disposed across an outer surface of the wall.

A heat exchanger is provided including a first manifold and a second manifold separated from the first manifold. A plurality of heat exchange tube segments are arranged in spaced parallel relationship and fluidly couple the first and second manifold. Each of the plurality of tube segments includes a first heat exchange tube and a second heat exchange tube at least partially connected by a web extending there between. The plurality of heat exchange tube segments includes a bend defining a first section and a second section of the heat exchange tube segments. The first section is arranged at an angle to the second section. A method of lubricating an interior of a tube includes applying a lubricant including a mixture of an additive and a solvent into an interior of a tube. A flow of drying agent is injected into a first end of the tube to force the solvent from the interior of the tube via a second end of the tube thereby leaving a coating of additive at the interior of the tube. The drying agent is heated to remove additional solvent from the interior of the tube via evaporation.

An automated brazing system by which an apparatus is conveyed along a path defined through a brazing zone is provided and includes first and second sets of burners disposed within the brazing zone at first and second opposing sides of the path, respectively, to heat the components of the apparatus substantially uniformly at the first and second sides and to heat the components of the apparatus substantially uniformly along the brazing zone, such that each side of each of the components is heated to a substantially similar temperature as each side of each of the other components.

Interlocking insulated wall sections (-), each of which contains a shell () having an outer panel () and a pair of end walls (-). A cover () is having an inner panel () and two end walls (-) is fitted over the shell. A first end wall () of the cover is mounted in contact with an end wall () of the shell and a second end wall () of the cover passes into the shell between the two end walls of the shell. An L-shaped flange () is connected to the second end wall of the cover and has a first leg of the flange () that rests in contact with the inner panel and a second leg of the flange () rests in contact with the other end wall of the shell. A space () is thus provided between the two panels of the wall section and is filled with an insulation (). Each wall section is dimensioned so that it can be received in the opening between the second end wall of the cover and the end flange so that two wall sections can be interlocked together in assembly.

An infrared camera is used to detect leakages in a heat exchanger by an imaging process that indicates temperature differences between a heat exchanger and a pressurized gas therein. The temperature differences are created by cooling or heating either the pressurized gas or the heat exchanger, and any leakages are visually observable by the resultant image which is representative of the temperature differences. The process can be accomplished with the use of ambient air rather than the commonly used trace gases which are less desirable because of economical and environmental reasons.

Leak detection with thermal imaging

The loss of trace gas to the atmosphere when leak testing heat exchangers is avoided by the use of internal and external containers, with both the trace gas sensor and the coil to be tested being placed within the internal container. The space between the two containers is preferably placed under a vacuum, and the inner and outer containers are fluidly connected to a refrigerant recovery vessel for the accumulation of leaked trace gas. The trace gas can then be returned to the charging system for reuse. The use of extractors can also be made to conduct the flow of leaked trace gas from the containers to the refrigerant recovery vessel. A containment that is also provides to receive and contain any contaminated refrigerant from the two containers.
