A connector system including a first connector configured to electrically and/or optically connect to a second connector. The first connector includes a first connector body configured to engage with the second connector; a first housing remotely located from the first connector body; a first connecting line including at least one of an electrical control line and an optical fiber connecting the first housing to the first connector body; a first main control line including at least one of an electrical control line and an optical fiber connected to the first housing; and, a first pressure isolator associated with the first housing, the first pressure isolator isolating pressure within the first main control line from pressure within the first connecting line and the first connector body. The first housing and the first connecting line are interposed between the first main control line and the first connector body.

A method of completing a wellbore system that includes a main wellbore and a lateral wellbore intersecting the main wellbore at a junction is disclosed, wherein in one embodiment the method includes placing a first outer assembly below the junction in the main wellbore and placing a second outer assembly below the junction in the lateral wellbore; placing a first inner assembly in the second outer assembly with a top end thereof below the junction, the top end of the first inner assembly including a first wet connect associated with at least one link in the first inner assembly; and connecting a second wet connect of a string with the first wet connect with a top end of the string having a third wet connect corresponding to the at least one link above the junction in the main wellbore.

Instrumented multilateral wellbores and method of forming same

A system, method and computer-readable medium for monitoring a fluid injection at a downhole location in a wellbore is disclosed. A member is provided in the wellbore. The member includes a passage for flow of fluid and a fiber optic cable including a plurality of temperature sensitive sensors wrapped around the member. A selected temperature signal is imparted into the fluid flowing in the member. A temperature of the fluid exiting the member at the downhole location is measured using the plurality of temperature sensors. The measured temperature and the imparted temperature signal are compared to determine a flow parameter of the injected fluid.

Two subs are held in a fixed position relative to each other when assembled to a string and run into a wellbore. A reservoir of fluid is defined in a wall between the subs. The reservoir has one or more outlets connected by a short jumper line to an adjacent tool to be operated. At the appropriate time, set down weight breaks a shear pin to reduce the reservoir volume and create pressure in the exit lines. The exit lines can be connected to operating pistons in adjacent tools to actuate them or to perform other desired functions using a stream of pressurized fluid. The device can be set for one time or multiple cycles where fluid in the reservoir can be replenished and re-pressurized for multiple cycles of operation.

String mounted hydraulic pressure generating device for downhole tool actuation

A connector is made up downhole and can connect electrical signal or power circuits. The male component features one or more circumferential bands on the exterior and the female component features like bands on its interior. The bands are preferably covered with removable sleeves until the connection is made up. In the preferred embodiment, the sleeves push each other out of the way as the connection is made up. The bands are preferably cylindrically shaped on their respective supporting connection half to make easy and reliable contact when the connection halves are advanced together without need for rotation to get the desired contact. Seals surround the connected contacts after makeup to keep out well fluids.

Annular electrical wet connect

A correlation system is provided to allow association of readings from a cable that is supported by a string but that is coiled around or has slack in one or many locations to a specific location along the string itself. Heat sources can be placed along the string to periodically or continuously give off heat that can be detected by a cable such as a fiber optic. The location of the sources along the string is known and the location along the cable is determined from the location on the cable where the heat generated by the source is sensed. One or more sources can be used and correlation can be by periodic sampling or in real time. The sources may by powered locally or from the surface.

Casing is scored but not penetrated in one embodiment of a method that allows access to the formation without perforating or section milling the casing. In the run in condition the casing is impervious, to allow cement to be pumped through it to seal the annular space between the casing and the wellbore. After the cement is delivered and displaced through a shoe, the casing is expanded in the regions where it was scored to create openings that go against the wellbore wall. In between the expanded sections the cemented casing offers isolation between adjacent formations.
