The present disclosure provides a surfactant formulation for use in treating and recovering fossil fluid from a subterranean formation. The surfactant formulation includes a nonionic surfactant, organic acid selected from citric acid, diglycolic acid, glycolic acid and a salt thereof and injection water. The surfactant formulation may be injected into one or more injection wells located within the subterranean formation and fossil fluids can then be subsequently recovered from one or more producing wells.

Use of organic acids or a salt thereof in surfactant-based enhanced oil recovery formulations and techniques

Methods of enhanced oil recovery are disclosed that use compositions including an alkyl polyether anionic surfactant having the general structure RJA, wherein Ris a C-Cprimary or secondary radical group, J is a random, block, alternating, or alternating block polyether segment having the structure [(PO)(EO)(BO)], wherein x is 4 to 18, y is 0 to 20, and z is 0 to 5, and A is an anionic group; a co-surfactant having the general structure (R)(B)Ph-L-Ph(D)(R), wherein Rand Rare each, independently in each instance, a C-Clinear or branched, primary or secondary alkyl group, B and D are anionic groups, q is 1 to 3, r is 1 to 3, and L is O or CH; and an alkoxy alcohol.

Ultra-high salinity surfactant formulation

The present disclosure provides a surfactant formulation for use in treating and recovering fossil fluid from a subterranean formation. The surfactant formulation includes a primary surfactant, a formulation stability agent and injection water. The surfactant formulation may be injected into one or more injection wells located within the subterranean formation and fossil fluids can then be subsequently recovered from one or more producing wells.

Surfactant formulation for release of underground fossil fluids

A method for enhanced oil recovery contacts a gas and an alkylene carbonate with a subterranean formation. The gas may be selected from any gas that is suitable for injection into a subterranean formation and has properties that allow for enhanced recovery of petroleum from a subterranean formation. The alkylene carbonate may be cyclic, straight chained, or combinations thereof.
