A method for cold forming splined transmission hubs is provided. A blank () with an inner surface and an outer surface is secured on a tool insert support member (). The tool insert support member () has an internal spline tooth profile () machined into it. A forming roller () is inserted inside the blank and then moves radially under pressure until it contacts an inner surface of the blank. A set of teeth () are created on the outer surface of the blank () and the blank () is rotated relative to the forming roller () to form an oil reservoir on the inner surface of the blank.
