This optoelectronic system for the testing of a main antenna comprises: a test antenna designed to be placed in the field of transmission or reception of the main antenna; an optoelectronic component associated with the test antenna alternatively receiving and sending optical signals from/to remote transmitters/receivers and receiving and/or sending optical signals from/to the test antenna; an electric matching circuit connected between the optoelectronic component and the test antenna. This system thus enables the testing on the spot of an antenna (for example a radar antenna) without disturbing the radiation pattern of this antenna. This semiconductor component is therefore alternatively a modulator or a detector of light radiation, and it is connected by optical fibers to emitters and adapted detectors located out of the field of the antennas to be tested. The cables formed by dielectric materials do not disturb the radiation pattern of the antennas. An optoelectronic system is used to overcome the variations in the characteristics of the semiconductor component, thus averting especially a temperature stabilization of this component.

Optoelectronic system for the testing of an antenna

A bidirectional optical amplification system which includes an optical amplifier having an input and an output and configured to amplify wavelengths lying within a range of wavelengths and an optical coupling device. The optical coupling device includes a first port configured to receive a first optical wave in a first subrange of wavelengths lying within a range of wavelengths, a second port configured to receive a second optical wave in a second subrange of wavelengths lying within the range of wavelengths, an optical coupling output coupled to the input of the optical amplifier, and an optical coupling input coupled to the output of the optical amplifier. The optical coupling device directs the first optical wave from the first port to the optical coupling output, directs an amplified optical wave, resulting from amplification of the first optical wave, from the optical coupling input to the second port, directs the second optical wave from the second port to the optical coupling output, and directs an amplified optical wave, resulting from amplification of the second optical wave, from the optical coupling input to the first port.

Bidirectional optical amplification system

An optical interconnection circuit includes a fixed number (N) of interconnected circuits (C1 to C16). Each circuit has an optical emitter (E1 to E16) and at least one optical receiver (R1, R16). The emitter outputs an optical wavelength which is specific to the circuit on which it is located. An optical coupler (CE) connects the emitter in each circuit to all receivers in the other circuits and each circuit (C1 to C16) has an address for identifying that particular circuit. The value of this address is applied to the emitter to adjust the optical wave length at which the emitter operates.

Optical interconnection system

Optical fibre delay line device for producing a delay on a guided light pulse proportional to the length of the optical fibre, comprising single means for the emission and detection of the light pulse, constituted by a semiconductor laser diode also having photodetecting properties and coupled to one of the ends of the optical fibre. The other end of the optical fibre is rendered reflective or is coupled to a waveguide of variable length, which also has a reflecting end, in such a way that the light pulse traverses the length of the optical fibre twice.

The device comprises a transparent plate having parallel faces and a light source which emits a divergent beam and is implanted on a first card. The beam is reflected from a first optical diffracting element in the form of a collimated beam which undergoes multiple reflections from alternate reflecting elements to a second optical diffracting element and is converted by the second element to a convergent beam transmitted to a detector which is implanted on a second card.

A device for storing information in an optical fiber transmission system, the storage of information, in particular in the form of digital data, being provided by creating at least one circulating memory using the optical fiber connecting terminals together as delay line. The transmissions takes place at a first wave length and each circulating memory uses a particular wave length, different from that of the other memories and from the transmission wave length. Each memory comprises, in a first terminal, a light source, a detector and a multiplexer for coupling with the connecting optical fiber and, in the terminal which is coupled thereto, a dichroic mirror selectively reflecting the wave lengths of the circulating memories and transmitting the other wave lengths.

A system for connection by means of optical fibers for the bidirectional exchange of data between a fixed central unit and peripheral units integral with a frame driven with a rotary movement, this system comprising radiating energy emitting and receiving means situated in the fixed part, coupled by optical fibers forming unidirectional data exchange paths to a single mixing fiber, itself coupled to optical fibers forming bidirectional data exchange paths coupled to radiating energy emitting and detecting means associated with the peripheral units integral with the mobile frame. The rotary-joint device has the design function of maintaining accurate positioning of the ends of optical fiber conductors during relative rotation of external bodies to which the joint is coupled. The device comprises a male ferrule and a female ferrule so arranged as to form a shaft rotatably mounted within a sleeve with a close but compliant fit, an abutment device for limiting the axial displacement of the sleeve, means for centering the ends of the conductors, and means for securing said ferrules to external connector bodies so as to form a rigid coupling and a semi-rigid coupling respectively.

Rotary-joint device providing for an optical waveguide transmission

An optical connector arrangement for use on the bottom of a metallic box, the connector providing optical connection between a printed circuit card inserted into the metallic box and an optical cable. A sleeve assembly couples the connector to the box so as to provide lateral mobility of the connector with respect to the box. This lateral mobility facilitates alignment between an optical terminal protruding from the printed circuit card and an optical terminal of the cable. The connector further includes means for maintaining a pressure between the two terminals.

A multichannel coupler for connecting a plurality of input fibers to a plurality of output fibers which comprises a mixing fiber coupled to the pluralities of fibers. This mixing fiber is cut along a transversal cut and the two parts thus obtained are secured end to end. At least one of the surfaces delimiting the cut is ground for having a better distribution of the transmitted light onto the output fibers.

The invention relates to a positioning ferrule for an optical fibre providing an adjustable connection between two fibres. The positioning ferrule according to the invention comprises detecting means for detecting the uncoupled radiation in the down-side fibre and therefore transmitted in the sheath of the latter. The process for adjusting a connector comprising said ferrule comprises producing a relative displacement of the axes of two fibres so that the detected radiation is minimum. The invention is applicable to long-distance optical telecommunications employing monomode optical fibres.
