The present invention relates to an apparatus and to a process for building tyres for vehicle wheels, wherein sidewalls () are applied on opposite sides of a carcass sleeve () placed on a shaping drum (). The application of the sidewalls () comprises: arranging each sidewall () as a ring around application levers () of a respective support (), making an axial appendage () of the sidewall () protrude axially beyond the free ends () of the respective application levers (); radially opening the free ends () of the application levers () of each support () so as to make the respective sidewall () radially expand; axially approaching the free ends () of the application levers () to the respective half-drum () up to engaging the axial appendage () with the carcass sleeve () and radially opening the free ends () of the application levers () to adhere the sidewalls against the carcass sleeve ().

Apparatus and process for building tyres for vehicle wheels

In building tyres, an intermediate portion of a carcass structure is built at a time on a respective forming drum within an intermediate forming line. The forming drum with the intermediate portion of the carcass structure is made available at a first transfer location. The intermediate portion of the carcass structure is completed through n completion locations with n&#x2265;1 and then transferred for the subsequent assembling with a crown structure to a second transfer location. At an operating moment in which the first transfer location is occupied by a forming drum coming from the intermediate forming line or intended for the intermediate forming line, from one to n locations selected from the n completion locations and the second transfer location are occupied by respective forming drums.

Method, process and plant for controlling the manufacture of tyres for vehicle wheels

A process and apparatus for manufacturing tyres for vehicle wheels includes the step of building, on a forming support, a belt structure including at least one reinforcing structure of the so-called zero-degree type. The reinforcing structure is formed by depositing a continuous elongated reinforcing element on a deposition surface arranged in a radially outer position with respect to the forming support. The aforementioned deposition includes the step of exerting, through at least one element made from magnetic material, a magnetic attraction on a portion of the continuous elongated reinforcing element arranged at at least one pressing member and moving said at least one pressing member toward the forming support until the continuous elongated reinforcing element is brought into contact with the deposition surface.
