Magnetic material of the Sm-Fe-N system exhibits a crystalline hard magnetic phase with a Th.sub.2 Zn.sub.17 crystalline structure wherein N atoms are incorporated in the crystalline lattice. A preliminary product having a dual component Sm.sub.2 Fe.sub.17 phase is produced by mechanical alloying followed by thermal treatment to achieve the desired microstructure. The preliminary product is heated in a nitrous atmosphere, as a result of which, the hard magnetic phase is formed. The preliminary product may also be obtained by a rapid-quenching technique.

Process for the production of magnetic material based on the Sm-Fe-N

A method of manufacturing a layer of a superconducting high-T.sub.c -material. For this purpose, an appropriate target material is deposited on a predetermined substrate by a pulsed laser with a wavelength in the ultraviolet range and, by applying a heat treatment and an oxygen treatment, the desired superconducting metal-oxide phase is formed with an ordered crystal structure. The heat treatment and oxygen treatment are performed simultaneously during the vaporizing step, whereby a power density of the laser radiation of over 3 J/cm.sup.2 at the target material is provided, the pulse power of the laser is at least 1.5 J/pulse, the temperature of the substrate is raised to 600.degree. C. to 800.degree. C., and an oxygen atmosphere of between 0.02 mbar and 1 mbar is provided.

Method for manufacturing oxide superconducting films by laser evaporation

Magnet material of the Sm-Fe-N system having a crystalline, hard magentic phase with a Th.sub.2 Zn.sub.17 crystal structure, wherein N atoms are incorporated into the crystal lattice, is produced. First a preliminary product is formed by sintering a Sm-Fe powder which is oriented in a magnetic field to provide a sintered body having a two-component Sm-Fe phase. The sintered body is heat treated in a nitrogen atmosphere to form the Sm-Fe-N hard magnetic phase. The nitrogen atomosphere may advantageously be reactive nitrogen.

Process for the production of an anisotropic magnetic material based

A shaped body of anisotropic magnetic material based on the Sm-Fe-N system which has a crystalline, hard magnetic phase with a Th.sub.2 Zn.sub.17 crystal structure, wherein N atoms are incorporated in the crystal lattice, is produced by compacting a powder Sm-Fe preliminary product with an Sm-Fe phase having a magnetically isotropic structure, followed by hot-shaping to provide an intermediate product with a Sm-Fe phase having a magnetically anisotropic structure, followed by heat treating the intermediate product in a nitrogen atmosphere to provide a Sm-Fe-N hard magnetic phase.

Process for the production of shaped body from an anisotropic magnetic

With the method, a layer of a superconductor material with a high transition temperature on the basis of a material system containing metallic components and oxygen is to be prepared. To this end, a layer of metal-oxide preliminary product of the components of the system with a structure still having faults with respect to the superconducting metal oxide phase is first applied to a predetermined substrate with an ordered structure and the desired superconducting metal oxide phase is epitaxially formed subsequently, using a heat treatment and while oxygen is being supplied. It should be possible to carry out the heat treatment such that application in semiconductor technology is possible. For the development of the desired superconducting metal oxide phase, thermal pulses of short duration, for instance, of an optical radiation source, are provided where at least at the beginning of this process step, the boundary surface between the preliminary product and the substrate is heated such that a temperature gradient of at least 10.degree. K. per .mu.m measured over the thickness of the layer is obtained.

Method for the epitaxial preparation of a layer of a metal-oxide

A superconducting oxide film is prepared by a method of seeding formation and heat treatment which comprises depositing a layer of a metal-oxide precursor on a predetermined substrate, forming a seed of a predetermined superconducting phase only in a locally limited region of the metal-oxide precursor at a boundary surface to the substrate by means of a solid-state reaction triggered by pulsed energy radiation, and then at least partially converting the metal-oxide precursor into the desired superconducting metal-oxide phase by a heat treatment in the oxygen atmosphere at a temperature below 800.degree. C.

Method for preparing superconducting oxide films by seeding formation

A permanent-magnet material of a metal/metal/metalloid system is produced in which at least one starting component of the metals in powder form is mixed together with a component in powder form of elemental boron, or a boron compound or alloy, is optionally compacted, and finally subjected to an annealing treatment for forming the permanent-magnet material. In order that a powder of this material system is produced with an extremely fine microstructure, the powder mixture of the starting components is first subjected to a milling process in the manner of mechanical alloying whereby a mixture powder of the at least one metallic starting component with embedded or adsorbed fine particles of the boron component is formed.

Method for manufacturing a permanent magnet material from starting

A metal part, which may be an amorphous metal, is formed from an intermediate product comprised of at least two alloy components in powder form which have been compacted and optionally deformed such as by hammering or extrusion. The intermediate part is transformed into the metal part by a diffusion reaction. The intermediate product is produced by milling the at least two starting alloy components to form a mixture powder of particles having a predominantly layer-like structure comprising the starting alloy components. At least one of the starting alloy components is magnetic. After milling, the produced mixture powder is subjected to a magnetic field which aligns the still mobile powder particles. Thereafter, the final compacting and possible deformation takes place.

Method of producing a metallic part

By the inventive method, an amorphous material in powder form can be produced, whereby at least two starting components in powder form are mechanically alloyed by means of a milling process so that a boron component which cannot be alloyed mechanically can nevertheless be alloyed. According to the invention, a boron component in powder form is admixed to the starting components; this powder mixture is subjected to the milling process, an amorphous alloying component being formed from the starting components with embedded or deposited fine particles of the boron components; and the mixture powder so produced is subjected to an annealing treatment below the crystallization temperature of the amorphous alloy component for diffusing the boron into the amorphous alloy component.

Method for producing an amorphous material in powder form by performing

An amorphous metal body is produced from an intermediate product formed by compacting at least two usually crystalline components of the alloy in powder form. The alloying components in the intermediate product extend in at least one dimension at most 1 um. The intermediate product is converted into the amorphous metallic body by means of a diffusion reaction at a predetermined elevated temperature. In order to produce bodies of larger size on a large technical scale, a mixture powder comprising particles is produced from the alloying components in powder form by a milling process which is terminated at a predetermined time in such a manner that the particles produced by milling have at least a predominantly layer-like structure of the alloying components. This mixture powder is then compacted into the intermediate product with the desired shape and dimensions. The intermediate product is optionally deformed.

Method for the preparation of a metallic body from an amorphous alloy

A metallic body, such as a metallic glass body, is manufactured from an amorphous alloy formed from at least two starting alloy partners. First, a preliminary product is produced having respective adjacent layer of the starting alloy partners. A non-crystalline intermediate product is then developed by a rapid diffusion reaction at a predetermined relatively low temperature. The intermediate product is then further processed to form the metallic body which may be amorphous or crystalline in structure. Large scale production of such metallic bodies with relatively large thicknesses is made possible. For this purpose, a starting product is formed by joining together a predetermined number of mutually adjacent individual parts of the respective starting alloy partners by means of a bundling or stacking technique. The preliminary product with predetermined adjacent layer thicknesses is then produced from the starting product by subjecting the starting product to at least one cross-section reducing deformation treatment.

Method for manufacturing a metallic body using an amorphous alloy

A simplified, easily producible, strongly adherent, solderable and corrosion resistant layer system for opto-electronic displays is produced by vapor deposition techniques. In accordance with the invention, the layer system is formed of two layers; a transparent first layer formed of a nonsolderable oxide semiconductor, such as In.sub.2 O.sub.3 SnO.sub.2, and a second layer formed of a solderable, oxidation-resistant material, which is formed at least partially of a copper alloy containing an alloying additive consisting of a metal which is less noble than copper, illustratively CuMg.
