An automatic multistage transmission for vehicles has an input shaft and two output shafts parallel to the input shaft and includes two gear stages which are capable of shifting by way of frictional engagement and other gear stages engagable by gear tooth engagement. In pull operation, the first transmission stage is constantly in engagement by means of a rotatably supported gear connectable through a first sliding bushing. The fixed gear of the first transmission stage is coupled through a reversing pinion to a reversing gear rotatably supported on one of the output shafts which can be connected through a second sliding bushing to the output shaft on which it is mounted.

A slide for a slide valve consists of an injection-molded, glass fiber reinforced, mineral-filled thermoplastic material having a high thermal stability of shape, a compressive strength of not less than 110 MPa and a Rockwell hardness of not less than R-117. The only machined surfaces are ground peripheral surfaces forming the sealing surfaces of the several subdivisions of the slide, which have an intact homogeneous texture.

The disclosed hydraulic control system for an automatic transmission has a main pressure valve to control main pressure produce by a pump, a manually operated slide valve to select a transmission condition, and electromagnetically operable valve arrangements receiving main pressure from the manual slide valve and by which the various main pressure levels are adjustable at corresponding transmission shift elements. At least one of the electromagnetic valve arrangements has a slide valve and an electromagnetic valve capable of being influenced by a control unit and at least one face of the slide valve is capable of being acted on by pressure.

Hydraulic control for shift elements of an automatic transmission

In the embodiments described in the specification, a hydraulic control system for supplying pressure to a plurality of servo motors associated with shift elements of the several speeds of a transmission includes a slide valve having three positions arranged so that, in each position, two of the servo motors at a time are connectable alternatively with two separate pressure medium delivery lines. Valves are provided in the pressure medium delivery lines for alternate connection of the lines to a central pressure medium supply line.

Hydraulic control systems for transmissions

In the embodiment described in the specification, a vehicle has a drive train that can be disengaged which extends from an engine through a transmission to the vehicle drive wheels. The engine has a device for increasing the engine speed which can be activated by the operator actuation of the accelerator or automatically by signals from a control unit. To prevent undesired increases in engine speed an arrangement is provided to automatically disable any increase is speed of the drive train when the accelerator is not activated, if the drive train has not been disengaged after passage of a predetermined period of time.
