A kiln for firing cement clinker may include a tubular rotary drum that can be rotated about its central axis. The tubular rotary drum may have a discharge end at which the cement clinker leaves the kiln. A protective segment may be attached at the discharge end and may have an outward-facing wear surface and an inward-facing cooling surface. The kiln may include a cooling device for generating a cooling air flow that flows along the inward-facing cooling surface of the protective segment. The inward-facing cooling surface can include profile bodies that are pin-shaped. The profile bodies may be uniformly spaced apart, parallel to one another, and/or present over 20% to 60% of the inward-facing cooling surface.

The invention relates to a method and an apparatus for comminuting grinding stock with a roller mill, wherein a grinding plate cooperates with at least two grinding rollers and the grinding stock supplied in the mass flow is comminuted between grinding plate and grinding roller. At least two grinding rollers are driven via dedicated drives, wherein a power compensation control is carried out for the drives of the grinding rollers, such that the power of the drives is controlled in a predefined ratio to one another. The power control is then effected by changing the mass flow of the grinding stock supplied to at least one of the grinding rollers.

The invention relates to a roller mill having a mill housing, a mill path which is supported so as to be rotatable about a mill axis inside the mill housing, and at least one mill roller which can be rotated about a mill roller shaft and which is engaged with the mill path in terms of rolling action. The invention relates to a rotary tube mill and to a method of comminuting lumpy mill feed material, in which at least a first and a second grinding chamber as well as a co-rotating partition disposed between the grinding chambers are used. The material ground in the first grinding chamber is divided in the partition into first and second part-quantities of mill feed material, whereby at least a part of the second part-quantity of mill feed material proceeds into the second grinding chamber and at least the first part-quantity of the mill feed material is discharged separately from the tube mill.

A chamber having a discharge base discharges an oversize fraction of a material and a fine fraction of the material separately from the chamber. The discharge base for the chamber for the heat treatment of the material is capable of separating the fine fraction of the material from the oversize fraction of the material. The discharge base has a plurality of conveyor elements which are movable to and fro for the discharge of the oversize fraction of the material. The discharge base is also provided with separator openings for separating out the fine fraction of the material. The conveyor elements are of bar-shape construction and are disposed in parallel to one another on the discharge base to be moveable in the direction of their longitudinal extent, and the separator openings are formed by longitudinal gaps between the conveyor elements.
