A catalyst system of such high efficiency that the purification of the polymer can be dispensed with is obtained by first reacting a magnesium halide with an electron donor and/or a cyclopolyene, bringing the product obtained into contact with a TiCl.sub.3 -containing compound and using a stereoregulator. The system has a high stereospecificity whereby the proportion of atactic polymer is kept low. No excess amount of transition metal halides is required and the polymer obtained has uniform coarse particles and a very low halogen content. sp

Process for the manufacture of a mixed catalyst

There are disclosed and claimed novel polyamides on the basis of a) 1,3-bis-(amino-methyl)-cyclohexane or mixtures thereof with 1,4-bis-(amino-methyl)-cyclohexane; b) one or several aromatic dicarboxylic acid (s); and c) one or several aliphatic amino-carboxylic acid(s); and the process of making the same. These polyamides combine high transparency with very good thermal and mechanical properties, namely high second order transition temperatures, good form stability at higher temperatures, high hardness and impact strength.

There are disclosed and claimed novel polyamides showing transparency and other excellent properties, and the process for making them. The polyamides of the invention are prepared in the known manner and under common conditions by poly-condensing meta-xylylene diamine, which may optionally be partially substituted by para-xylylene diamine, at least one straight chain aliphatic diamine, at least one unsubstituted aromatic dicarboxylic acid and at least one aliphatic saturated dicarboxylic acid.

There are disclosed and claimed novel polyamides having improved properties such as high transparency and second order transition temperatures in combination with good mechanical and electrical properties at relatively high temperatures. There is disclosed a process for the preparation of novel transparent polyamides with improved properties. These polyamides are obtained by polycondensing 1,3-bis-(amino-methyl)-cyclohexane, which can be partly substituted by the 1,4-derivative, at least one aromatic dicarboxylic acid and at least one amino-carboxylic acid or the lactam thereof with at least one aliphatic straight chain or branched diamine or/and at least one aliphatic straight chain or branched dicarboxylic acid.

The invention relates to molding compositions comprising at least one amorphous polyamide and at least one styrene homo- or copolymer with a derivative of acrylic acid, said styrene polymer being modified with an elastomer and showing impact strength. The blends according to the invention show high hardness and flexural modulus and, at the same time, excellent fluidity.
