A trench wall apparatus includes a base frame held at its top end by a holding means held by at least one soil excavation means, which is positioned at a bottom end of the base frame. When soil is excavated while forming the trench, the trench wall apparatus is held by a clamping means that includes at least two clamping elements on opposite sides extended laterally by at least one actuating cylinder, whereby at least one part of the trench wall apparatus is clamped in the trench, and a pressing means applies a pressing force on the at least one soil excavation means. The clamping elements and clamping cylinder are positioned on an intermediate frame displaceably mounted along the base frame. The intermediate frame is clamped and fixed to the ground by the clamping means. The base frame having the soil excavation means is pressed downward by the pressing means.

The invention relates to a construction machine having a mast and a lifting element which can be moved up and down along the mast with a hoist rope. The hoist rope can be activated by means of two rope winches. At least one first rope winch is designed as a free fall winch, wherein the hoist rope can be lowered in free fall. The invention relates to a hinged tooth for a cutting wheel comprising a pivot bearing for pivotally supporting on a pivot pin located on a cutting wheel hub, a cutting tooth support extending from the pivot bearing and a steering arm extending from the pivot bearing substantially in a direction opposite to that of the cutting tooth support. A simple and at the same time stable arrangement is achieved in that the pivot bearing, the cutting tooth support and the steering arm are designed as a one-piece support.

A continuous flow water heater utilizes a submersible pulsating heating mechanism. A continuous flow water heater is provided with a caldron which may be closed by means of a cover. The pulsating heating mechanism may be mounted to the caldron cover with the pulsating heating mechanism and the cover being readily removable. The pulsating heating mechanism extends downward into the caldron. The pulsating heating mechanism is formed by a vertically standing sound muffling air cylinder with an intake muffler, a combustion chamber and a pulsation pipe connected to the combustion chamber. The pulsation pipe exhausts into a cylindrically shaped substantially vertically mounted exhaust muffler cylinder mounted adjacent to the air cylinder within the caldron. The caldron may be made of a synthetic material as the highest temperature which it must withstand is that of the temperature of the water to be heated. The water to be heated enters from the bottom of the caldron, is heated by the air and exhaust cylinders as it rises, and is heated to its highest temperature near the top of the caldron where it exits by means of a pretzel-shaped pulsation pipe. The heating capacity may be doubled by using a second substantially identical pulsating heating mechanism which operates 180.degree. out of phase without increasing the volume of the exhaust cylinder.

A resonant or pulsating combustion heating apparatus of the present invention provides a high thermal efficiency heater with low concentrations of carbon monoxide and nitrogen oxides in the exhaust gas. The pulsation heater is constructed to provide an afterburner or late-combustion reactor in the pulsation tube. Combustion in the combustion chamber is of a relatively rich fuel/air mixture in which no nitrogen oxides are produced. The afterburning in the pulsation tube is carried out in the presence of excess air providing late combustion to remove carbon monoxide (CO).
