A lighting device, such as a replacement lighting device, comprising a light source (LS), e.g. LEDs, for producing light along an optical axis (OA). A heat sink (HS) made of a material with an electrical resistivity being less than 0.01 &#x3a9;m, e.g. a metallic heat sink being a part of the housing, transports heat away from the light source (LS). A Radio Frequency (RF) communication circuit (CC) connected to an antenna (A) serves to enable RF signal communication, e.g. to control the device via a remote control. Metallic components, including the heat sink (HS), having an extension larger than 1/10 of a wavelength of the RF signal are arranged below a virtual plane (VP) drawn orthogonal to the optical axis (OA) and going through the antenna (A). Hereby a compact device can be obtained, and still a satisfying RF radiation pattern can be obtained. The antenna can be a wire antenna or a PCB antenna, e.g. a PIFA or a IFA type antenna. In a special embodiment the antenna is formed on a ring-shaped PCB with a central hole allowing passage of light from the light source. Preferably, the antenna is positioned at least 2 mm in front of the heat sink (HS).

A lighting unit () is provided with a reflecting surface () for providing an output beam of light with at least two beam patterns. A first light source () and a second light source () are arranged to illuminate substantially identical surface areas of said reflecting surface () and are independently controllable from each other. The reflecting surface () is shaped and said light sources () are positioned relative to said reflecting surface () so that said first light source () generates an output beam of light, having a first beam pattern and said at least second light source () generates an output beam of light, having a second beam pattern, different from said first beam pattern. A corresponding vehicle headlamp () comprises at least one lighting unit ().

The invention relates to a motor vehicle lighting fixture which comprises at least: a light source comprising at least one LED; a light-transmitting part that is arranged such that it receives light from the light source; and a reflector that is arranged such that it reflects that portion of the light from the light source that passes through the light-transmitting part and couples it out to the front of the lighting fixture, a reflection portion and a refraction portion being provided within the light-transmitting part, wherein said reflection portion deflects the light issuing from the light source through total reflection in one direction that is substantially perpendicular to the optical axis of the reflector, whereas the refraction portion couples out the light in the direction of the reflector.

A luminair and a display device including a light emitting diode, a light exit window and a luminescent layer arranged between the light emitting diode and the light exit window. The light emitting diode emits light of a first primary color. The luminescent layer is arranged between the light emitting diode and the light exit window for converting part of the light emitted by the light emitting diode into light of a second primary color. The luminescent layer includes a garnet luminescent material of one of at least Lutetium, Cerium, Silicon and Nitrogen, or a combination of a garnet luminescent material of at least Lutetium and Cerium and a garnet luminescent material of at least Cerium and at least one of Yttrium and Gadolinium.

Illumination system and display device

A portable illumination device, for illuminating an object through a medium having an absorption coefficient, has a lighting unit including at least two differently colored light sources for emitting light having a color distribution and a control unit for adjusting the color distribution. The control unit is adapted to receive a distance estimate corresponding to the distance between the illumination device and the object, and adjust the color distribution depending on the distance estimate, such that light reflected from the object is perceived to have substantially correct color reproduction.
