The invention relates to a device for measuring the flow of material, especially of a flow of bulk material, according to the Coriolis principle of measurement. The device has an impeller ( ) which is driven by a motor ( ) with a constant r.p.m. The flow of material is fed to the impeller ( ) and is radially deflected. The driving torque is measured by a torque measuring sensor. The driving torque is transmitted to a force sensor ( ) by a pivot bearing ( ) for determining the torque. A dosing mechanism is equipped with a bulk material container such as a silo which has at least one movable or flexible wall portion that is moved to help in the discharge of the bulk material through a discharge device. The motion of the discharge device is transmitted directly to the movable wall portion by rigidly connecting the discharge device directly to the movable wall or wall portion and by movably mounting the discharge device below the silo.

A mass through-flow is continuously measured by measuring the Coriolis forces that are caused by the mass flow passing through a winged wheel. The mass flow is introduced centrally onto the winged wheel which rotates with a constant r.p.m. and diverts the mass flow radially outwardly. The Coriolis forces and thus the corresponding reaction torques which are proportional to the mass through-flow are measured with the aid of a torque joint interposed between a housing of the winged wheel and a drive motor for the shaft that drives the wheel. Force sensor elements, preferably in the form of bending beams, are incorporated into the torque joint and are deflected by the reaction torque moment applied to the motor housing. These bending beams provide an output signal that is proportional to the mass through-flow through the apparatus.

A bulk material dosing or feeder device has at least one upright post mounted to a base and carrying a horizontal head section. A supply hopper is supported by the head section. Modular units such as a stirrer, a weigher or feeder or the like are vertically aligned, vertically below the hopper. At least one, preferably each modular unit is mounted on a respective swivel arm. The swivel arm is journalled to the upright post whereby the modular unit may be tilted into an operative position below the hopper or into an out position for easy access to and exchange of the modular units.

Dosing device for bulk material including liquids

A dosing or metering feeding apparatus for precisely feeding a stream of powdered or fine grained loose bulk material includes a cylindrical container (1) for storing the loose material (3). A rotating turntable (4) essentially closing the bottom of the container (1). A discharge groove (6) is located in the turntable around the circumference of the turntable (4), whereby the discharge groove (6) opens radially outwardly. A stripper is arranged to reach into the discharge groove (6) for stripping the dosed material (3) from the discharge groove (6) and for discharging the dosed or metered material. This arrangement provides a clearly defined discharge rate of the loose material. The discharge rate may be simply adjusted to different desired feed rates by varying the rotational speed of the turntable (4). A high dosing or metering precision is achieved. The dosing apparatus may be used together with a weighing scale for carrying out a gravimetric feeding by controlling the turntable drive in closed loop fashion by a control signal derived from the weighing scale.

Dosing or feeding apparatus for precisely feeding loose bulk material

Bulk material that is difficult to feed, such as glass fibers, is fed from a storage bin into a feeding chute driven by a vibratory drive which vibrates the chute in a longitudinal direction of the chute, that is, in the feed advance direction of the chute. The chute may be a so-called loss-in-weight feeding chute. In order to assure a uniform, constant material flow without any bunching and without any gaps in the flow for an accurate feeding, the material flow is exposed or influenced by a further vibration effective in a direction substantially across the feed advance direction. For the purpose a vibrator with vibrating elements extending in the feed advance direction vibrates in the cross-direction. These vibrating elements are so located that they can make the material flow through the chute more uniform.

Method and apparatus for moving bulk material through a chute

A flexible sleeve type connecting structure, especially for connecting an inlet and/or outlet of a movably supported weigh hopper to other stationary scale components, includes a sleeve (1) made of a flexible webbing. The outer surface of the webbing sleeve (1) is provided with a silicone coating. The inner surface of the webbing coating has bonded thereto a layer or film of silicone by a suitable adhesive. The strands in the webbing extend at about 45.degree. relative to the longitudinal axis of the sleeve for an improved flexibility. Each end of the sleeve has a flange (2, 2') extending radially outwardly and merging into a bulging ring (3, 3') at the radially outer edge of the respective flange. The webbing forms an integral part of the sleeve, of the flanges and of the bulging rings which are received in grooves of respective mounting members (10, 10').
