According to one embodiment of the present invention, a system analyzes an environment specification document that specifies a proposed configuration of a full-stack environment for a computing system and that describes infrastructure, middleware, and application elements. The system correlates the environment specification document with an environment instantiated on the computing system from the environment specification document. The system determines an impact of changes in the proposed configuration on the environment instantiated on the computing system, and configures the computing system in accordance with the proposed configuration based on the determined impact. Embodiments of the present invention further include a method and computer program product for analyzing an environment specification document in substantially the same manners described above.

Assessing computing environment changes using specification documents

According to one embodiment of the present invention, a computer system comprising at least one processor may generate a tabular object containing data about an object. The layout of such tabular object comprises rows and columns, and may have a structure that includes plural sets of dual columns, each set representing pairs of related data (e.g. property value pairs). The size and portion of the tabular object in view at any particular time are determined by the user's sizing and scrolling behavior. The assignment of object data (e.g., property value pairs) to the resulting cells in that tabular object takes place dynamically according to the size and portion of the tabular object being displayed at any particular time in a manner that optimizes the use of available space.

Inadvertent touch selection events from a touch screen are avoided. A threshold physical distance between a touch start and a touch end for a touch screen is set. A touch input from the touch screen is received. A determination is made as to whether or not the touch input traverses a distance that is less than or greater than the threshold physical distance. In response to determining that the touch input traverses a distance that is less or equal to the threshold physical distance, a processor activates a selection event for an item. In response to determining that the touch input traverses a distance that is greater than the threshold physical distance, the processor scrolls the plurality of scrollable items.

Preventing accidental selection events on a touch screen

Exemplary embodiments disclose controlling of the size and content of a hierarchical visualization by a software component executing on a computer that displays a multi-level hierarchical visualization of nodes including a collapsed sub-hierarchy. The exemplary embodiments include displaying a user interface that enables a user to invoke a contextual search that is contextual to the collapsed sub-hierarchy; responsive to the user invoking the contextual search, receiving search criteria entered by the user; displaying any nodes from the collapsed sub-hierarchy matching the search criteria; receiving a user selection of which ones of the matching nodes from the collapsed sub-hierarchy to show; and displaying a partial rendering of the collapsed sub-hierarchy that shows the selected matching nodes while keeping remaining non-matching nodes hidden.

A task roster. A task roster can include a visual list of component tasks, the component tasks collectively forming a high-level task; a specified sequence in which the component tasks are to be performed; and, one or more visual status indicators, each visual status indicator having a corresponding component task, each visual status indicator further indicating whether the corresponding component task has been performed in the specified sequence. The task roster also can include a component task initiator configured to launch a selected component task in the visual list of component tasks upon a user-selection of the selected component task.

A system for setting data list parameters for displaying a data list in pages. An application program receives a first and second user input, wherein the first user input defines a number of items displayed within a page, and wherein the second user input defines a page size tolerance. In response to receiving the first and second user input, the application program sets the number of items displayed within the page and the page size tolerance. Then the application program displays the data list in a graphical user interface according to the set number of items displayed within the page and the set page size tolerance.

Enhanced visualization and selection of multi-layered elements in a containment hierarchy

A technique, system, and computer program for integrating procedural user interfaces and object-oriented user interfaces. This integration enables the useful features and advantages of task wizards to be available to a user of an object-oriented user interface, and vice versa. The prompting approach of wizards is used during modification, as well as during creation, of objects and their components. A graphical canvas, depicting these components and their interrelationships, is built incrementally during the object creation process. This same graphical canvas is used during modification, enabling direct selection and manipulation of components to be changed. Efficient use is made of the display screen, enabling information to be viewable without a proliferation of windows, and presenting relevant information to the user at the time he needs it. Nested wizards may be used, which allow the user to access a different wizard that will facilitate creation of a complex object or component referenced by the create process of a first wizard.

Integration of procedural and object-oriented user interfaces

Methods, data processing systems or program products which provide user interfaces including a window having a workspace and a first set of non-overlapping resizeable panes comprising a plurality of non-overlapping resizeable panes within the workspace. The non-overlapping resizeable panes occupy substantially the entirety of said workspace. Open or closing pane creates a second set of panes in the window. In the opening case, the second set of panes include the first set of panes and a new pane in non-overlapping relationship without requiring resizing of the new pane or the first set of panes by the user. In the closing case, the second set of panes include the remaining panes of the first set of panes which occupy substantially the entirety of the workspace in non-overlapping relationship without requiring resizing of the new pane or the first set of panes by the user. Selectable contents may also be provided and are contained within at least one of the non-overlapping resizeable panes which includes at least one option icon of user selectable options. Selecting an option icon causes the contents of the non-overlapping resizeable pane to be replaced by contents associated with the selected option icon.

Multi-pane window with recoiling workspaces

Methods, data processing systems or program products which provide a user interfaces capable of controlling the size of multiple workspaces with limited user input. The size of workspaces is controlled by connecting workspaces to create a single size control separator for borders of workspaces which are aligned with the border of adjacent workspaces. Simultaneously resizing of the connected workspaces is done utilizing the single size control separator for the connected workspace and is based upon translation of the size control separator. The border of a workspace may be snapped to the border of an adjacent workspace to connect the workspaces. Additionally, Size of a workspace may be controlled by connecting common corners of at least three adjacent workspaces to create a corner single size control separator for all at least three adjacent workspaces. The connected workspaces are resized utilizing the corner single size control separator based upon the translation of the corner single size control separator. The corner of a workspace may be snapped to the corner of adjacent workspaces to connect the workspaces and create the corner single size control separator.
