There is disclosed a series of macrolides isolated from the fermentation broth of a microorganism identified as MA-5000 which morphological analysis reveals to be a strain of Streptomyces hygroscopicus. The compounds' structures are present based upon analytical studies. The compounds have antifungal activity.

Antifungal substances and process for their production

Two fermentation isolates, C.sub.7 H.sub.9 NO.sub.4 and C.sub.6 H.sub.7 NO.sub.3, presumably trihydroxy, methyl-pyridine derivatives, are inhibitors of dopamine .beta.-hydroxylase. These natural product compounds are produced by fermentation of Streptoverticillium hiroshimense and each may prove useful as antihypertensive agents.

This case relates to a novel process which aids in the isolation and purification of novel compounds which are produced by the microorganism, Streptomyces avermitilis. The process described herein utilizes a hydroxypropyl Sephadex column chromatographic step in the isolation of the compounds from broth. The compounds which are isolated and purified are described generically s C-076 and have significant parasiticidal activity.

Process for the separation of antibiotic macrolides

A novel mixture of degradation products of boromycin is prepared by treating boromycin with acid. This mixture of compounds has anticoccidial activity and is useful for controlling cecal and/or intestinal coccidiosis when administered in minor quantities to animals, in particular to poultry, usually in admixture with animal sustenance.
