A device comprises a first power cell, a second power cell, a power factor correction module, a boost inductor switch circuit, and an output. The first and second power cells are configured to provide first and second currents in response to an input voltage. The power factor correction module is configured to continuously activate and deactivate the first and second power cells based on an input current level, on the input voltage, and on an output voltage. The boost inductor switch circuit is configured to disable the first power cell in response to the input current level being below a predetermined level. The output is configured to provide the output voltage based on the first and second currents when the input current level is above the predetermined level, and to provide the output voltage based on the second current when the input current level is below the predetermined level.

System and method for reducing an input current ripple in a boost converter

A power supply device comprises a driver circuit, a transistor switch, and a first transistor. The driver circuit is configured to provide a stable driving signal and a floating driving signal. The transistor switch has a first terminal, a second terminal connected to a first terminal of the driver circuit, and a third terminal connected to a second terminal of the driver circuit, and is configured to prevent a reverse current based on the floating driving signal. The first transistor has a first current electrode connected to the first terminal of the transistor switch, a second current electrode connected to the first voltage reference, and a control electrode connected to the third terminal of the driver circuit, and is configured to activate and deactivate based on the stable driving signal, and further configured to regulate an input voltage to a substantially constant direct current output voltage.

System and method for improving efficiency of a power factor correction boost pre-regulator

A power supply includes an input filter and rectifier module, a digital control module, and a converter module. The input filter and rectifier module is configured to rectify an input voltage. The digital control module is adapted to prevent a potential saturation of a transformer by setting a maximum allowable duty cycle for a control signal transmitted to the transistor based on an input voltage. The digital control model is further adapted to reduce switching losses in the power supply by setting the control signal switching frequency, based on the input voltage. The converter module is configured to convert the input voltage into a direct current output voltage based upon the control signal.

System and method for power saving conversion topology in switch mode power supplies

A device including a full bridge, a half bridge, a first inductor, and a second inductor. The full bridge has a first pair of transistors being activated when a load applied to the device is above a predetermined level and deactivated when the load applied to the device is below the predetermined level, and a second pair of transistors being continuously activated. The half bridge has a third pair of transistors that are activated when the load applied to the device is below the predetermined level and deactivated when the load applied to the device is above the predetermined level. The first and second inductors are connected between the outputs of the full and half bridges are adapted to cooperate with each other to provide a zero voltage switching of the device at a light load. The first and third pairs of transistors are activated at different times.

Phase shifted DC-DC converter with improved efficiency at light load

A power supply device including a diode bridge, a converter module, and an inrush control module. The diode bridge is configured to rectify an input voltage. The converter module is coupled to the diode bridge and is configured to convert the input voltage into a direct current regulated output voltage. The inrush control module is connected to the diode bridge and is configured to gradually activate a transistor and to limit an inrush current peak value based upon a zero crossing being detected in the input voltage. A method for limiting the inrush current peak value is also disclosed.

Power supply start-up and brown-out inrush management circuit

A system and method for a bridgeless power supply is disclosed. The bridgeless power supply includes a digital control module that controls a first switch, a second switch, and a transistor, thereby the bridgeless power supply rectifies an alternating current (AC) variable input voltage and regulates a direct current (DC) output voltage. The digital control module applies a first and second control signal to the first and second switches thereby rectifying and regulating the AC variable input voltage. Additionally, the digital control module provides a high frequency and constant duty cycle third control signal to the transistor in series with an output transformer of the bridgeless power supply device, to assure primary-to-secondary isolation.
