Content of the print media is searched to identify a first portion of the print media that matches the user profile and a second portion of the print media that does not match the user profile. Supplemental content is obtained based on content of the first portion of the print media. A display of the supplemental content is positioned over the second portion of the print media.

Systems and methods are disclosed herein for identifying a media asset in response to an ambiguous input. The media guidance application may detect a portion of music provided by a user, e.g., a melody from user humming. The media guidance application may retrieve information about the user's location for a predetermined time period prior to detecting the portion of music. The media guidance application may then determine content accessible by the user at the location, e.g., a commercial played at a display screen at a train station when the user was waiting for the train, to identify the media asset corresponding to the user humming.

Systems and methods are provided reducing storage space occupied by a media asset by adjusting quality levels of the media asset downward over time. This may be accomplished by a media guidance application that store, at a given time, the media asset in a first format having a first quality level. The media guidance application retrieves, from a database, a data entry corresponding to the media asset and determines, based on the data entry, a threshold period of time for storing the media asset in the first format. The media guidance application detects whether the threshold period of time since the given time has passed and responds by altering a first portion of the media asset from the first format having the first quality level to a second format having a second quality level that is inferior to the first quality level.

Methods and systems are described herein for notifying a user about content that the user has previously missed in media. Users may get easily distracted when viewing media by mobile device notifications or other users viewing the media with the user. Consequentially, the user may miss content in media. The user may miss the same content in the media when consuming the media for a second time if the distractions are still present. An interactive media guide determines when the user has previously missed content in media and alerts the user when the content is going to be missed for a second time.

In one embodiment, a method receives an object model determined from a specification for processing beacons. The method determines first information for a beacon object referenced in a basefact object to determine which beacon objects are applicable for the basefact object. Second information is determined for the structured data fields referenced in the basefact object to determine which output fields map to which structured data fields and third information is determined for a set of transformations for a set of input fields in the set of composite objects for the beacon to determine how to perform transformations to transform the set of input fields to the set of output fields. The method then generates instructions for a target program to process the beacons to transform the set of input fields to the set of output fields and map the set of output fields to the structured data fields.
