A railway signal replacement lamp module apparatus, including a lamp housing sized to fit within a railway signal housing and a receptacle to contain a solid state light source within the lamp housing. Some embodiments include, in combination with other aspects, at least one spring-loaded connector integral to and positioned within or on the lamp housing to interface with an electrical conductor feature of a railway signal; and a thermally conductive material disposed on an exterior surface of the lamp housing to provide a thermal conduit from an exterior of the lamp housing to an interior of the railway signal housing.

A repetitive lighting fixture will alternate between at least two different illuminated images projected in a desired direction. The fixture includes edge-lit flat panels that are configured and/or overlayed to reproduce one or more desired images. Each panel is made of light-transmissive material, which optionally may contain colorant. Each edge-lit flat panel contains optics coupled with a second planar surface of the panel. The optics are arranged to define a desired shape of an image and are configured so as to cause light distributed within the panel to exit a first planar surface of the panel. Each panel has its own light source that projects light into a light transmitting edge of the panel. The panel's light source can include light emitting diodes (LED) that only or selectively illuminate the specific optics of that panel.

A lamp is provided which is suitable for use in low-profile applications. The lamp includes a light source and a lens. The lens includes a first surface opposite a second surface, where the second surface includes an injection surface and the first surface includes a multi-faceted optical element converging towards the injection surface. The light source injects light into the lens via the injection surface and the light refracts through the first surface while total internally reflecting off the first surface and the second surface toward the periphery of the lens.

A lighting module and lighting device are described. Embodiments of the lighting modules comprise light emitting diodes (LEDs), a power supply, and a waveguide that disperses light from the LEDs to illuminate a lighted side of the lighting module. In one embodiment, the lighting module comprises a substrate, on which the LEDs and power supply are mounted. The substrate includes an interface that permits the lighting module to communicate with an adjacent lighting module when positioned in an array that forms an LED lighting device.
