Amphiphilic triblock copolymers, articles containing the amphiphilic triblock copolymers, and methods of making these block copolymers provided. The amphiphilic triblock copolymers contain a first block (an A block) derived from isoprene, a second block (a B block) derived from a vinyl aromatic such as styrene, and a third block (a C block) derived from butadiene that have been subjected to hydrosilylation.

Amphiphilic triblock copolymer

Polymer electrolyte membranes (PEMs) that include co-continuous domains of a conductive phase and a crosslinked network phase. The conductive phase can include one or more polymers having glass transition temperatures below room temperature. The crosslinked network phase can be formed from at least one monofunctional monomer and at least one di- or greater functional monomer.

Polymer electrolyte membranes

A membrane having a first outer surface having a plurality of pores in a skin layer and the plurality of pores having a closed perimeter in the skin layer. The membrane having a second outer surface and a porous supporting layer connecting the first outer surface to the second outer surface. The first outer surface of the membrane is a melt-fused skin layer from exposure to ultra-violet light.

Ultra-violet treatment of membranes and resulting membrane

A porous membrane includes a triblock copolymer of the formula ABC. B is a hydrogenated vinyl aromatic block present in a range from 30 to 90 weight percent, based on the total weight of the copolymer and has a Tof &#x2265;110&#xb0; C. C is a rubbery block present in a range from 10 to 70 weight percent, based on the total weight of the copolymer and has a T&#x2264;25&#xb0; C. A is substantially incompatible with both the B and C blocks and is derived from ring-opening polymerization. B+C is present in a range from 70 to 95 weight percent, based on the total weight of the copolymer.

Porous membranes including triblock copolymers

The present disclosure provides a porous membrane made of pentablock copolymer. The porous membrane includes an ABCBA block copolymer and has a number of pores. The A block is immiscible with each of the B block and the C block, the B block has a glass transition temperature (T) of 90 degrees Celsius or greater, and the C block has a Tof 25 degrees Celsius or less. The A block comprises a poly(alkylene oxide), a substituted epoxide, a polylactam, or a substituted carbonate; B block comprises a vinyl aromatic monomer or a polyalkylmethacrylate and C block comprises a polyacrylate, a polysiloxane or a polyisoprene. A method of making a porous membrane is also provided. The method includes forming a film or a hollow fiber from a solution including a solvent and solids containing an ABCBA block copolymer. The method further includes removing at least a portion of the solvent from the film or the hollow fiber and contacting the film or the hollow fiber with a nonsolvent.

Porous membranes including pentablock copolymers and method of making the same

Described is a triblock copolymer of the formula ABC wherein B is a hydrogenated vinyl aromatic block having a Tof &#x2265;110&#xb0; C. and comprising 30-90 wt. % of the copolymer; C is a rubbery block having a T&#x2264;25&#xb0; C. and comprising 10-70 wt. % of the copolymer; and A is an block derived from ring-opening polymerization, substantially incompatible with both B and C blocks.

Triblock copolymers

Novel pentablock polymers of the formula ABCBA are provided wherein C is a glassy aromatic block having a Tg of &#x3e;70&#xb0; C.; B is a rubber block having a Tg&#x3c;25&#xb0; C.; and A is a block incompatible with the B and C blocks and derived from ring-opening polymerization of cyclic monomers.
