A method and apparatus for sensing levels of insoluble fluids within a storage vessel utilizing an array of main capacitive sensors having differing geometries. The array of main capacitive sensors gives the ability to measure the levels of insoluble liquids in a vessel. Each of the main capacitive sensors include at least one pair of conductive plates capable of submersion in the at least three insoluble fluids, and the geometries of the pair of conductive plates differ and are distinct, such as in distance or in width, in each of the main capacitive sensors. In addition, the apparatus and method may include at least one reference sensor placed intermittently along the height of the vessel to provide input as to the permittivities of the insoluble fluids.

Method and apparatus for sensing levels of insoluble fluids

A strike indicator that indicates when a fish bites and reduces false positives, comprising a light source, a power source, a printed circuit board, an accelerometer integrated circuit mounted on said printed circuit board, and a microcontroller mounted on said printed circuit board. The strike indicator may be housed in a fishing rod, with the light source illuminating the tip of the rod. The accelerometer detects acceleration of the rod, and the microcontroller utilizes an algorithm to determine whether the acceleration is due to a fish biting or due to other causes. If the acceleration is due to a fish biting, the light source is activated, alerting the user that a fish is biting.

Intelligent strike indicator

A method and apparatus for sensing levels of insoluble fluids within a storage vessel utilizing an array of main capacitive sensors having differing geometries. The array of main capacitive sensors gives the ability to measure the levels of insoluble liquids in a vessel. Each of the main capacitive sensors include at least one pair of conductive plates capable of submersion in the at least two insoluble fluids, and the geometries of the pair of conductive plates differ and are distinct, such as in distance or in width, in each of the main capacitive sensors. In addition, the apparatus and method may include at least one reference sensor placed intermittently along the height of the vessel to provide input as to the permittivities of the insoluble fluids.

A variable ratio spring return for a bass drum pedal includes a bass drum pedal of the type having a driveshaft mounted on a frame for rotation in a positive direction from a rest position to an impact position on a longitudinal axis of the driveshaft. A spring return assembly connected between the frame and the driveshaft biases the driveshaft in a negative direction from the impact position towards the rest position. The spring return assembly includes a spring with ears at opposing ends, one ear connected to the frame and the other ear connected to a cam-shaped hub mounted on the driveshaft. The hub has a peripheral edge that varies in radius from a small radius at an upper end to a large radius at a lower end. A belt has a first end connected to the upper end of the hub and extends downwardly around a forward peripheral edge of the hub to a clip that receives the upper ear of the spring. A second end of the belt is connected to the upper end of the hub and has a second run extending downwardly therefrom along the rearward peripheral edge of the hub to the clip. A pivot arm is connected to the hub and has an outer peripheral edge that forms the lower portion of the hub forward peripheral edge. Pivoting the arm outwardly from the hub changes the radius of curvature of the lower forward peripheral edge of the hub.

Variable ratio spring return for bass drum pedal

A spring return for a bass drum pedal includes a spring with ears at opposing ends, one ear connected to the pedal frame and the other ear connected to a pivot arm attached to the pedal driveshaft. The pivot arm includes a hub mounted on the driveshaft and a shaft extending radially therefrom. A collar is journaled on the shaft and includes a setscrew to permit selectively locking of the collar at desired locations along the shaft. A pin mounted on the collar has an aperture for receiving one ear of the spring, thereby permitting selective adjustment of the distance between the spring ear and the driveshaft, to thereby adjust the ratio of driveshaft rotation to spring pressure.

A drum hoop includes an annular ring having inward and outward faces and a plurality of flanges formed on the outward face projecting radially outwardly from the lower edge. A plurality of parallel visual guidelines are formed on the inward face of the ring positioned parallel to a reference plane formed by the lower surfaces of the flanges.

A high hat includes a ground supported stand with a vertical hollow tube through which a cymbal rod is operably mounted. A lower cymbal is mounted on the upper end of the tube with an upper cymbal connected to the upper end of the cymbal rod such that vertical movement of the cymbal rod will cause the upper and lower cymbals to contact one another for a percussive sound. A spring is connected to the cymbal rod to bias the rod into its upper position, wherein the upper cymbal is spaced upwardly away from the lower cymbal. An operable foot pedal is utilized to move the cymbal rod and cause the upper and lower cymbals to contact one another. The foot pedal includes a foot plate pivotally connected at a heel end to a base. A pair of sprockets are connected together and rotatably mounted on a shaft above the toe end of the foot plate. A first chain extends from the toe end of the foot plate and is wrapped partially around the first sprocket on the shaft and is connected thereto so as to cause the sprocket to rotate when the foot plate is depressed. A second drive chain extends from the lower end of the cymbal rod and is wrapped partially around the second sprocket and is connected thereto so as to lower the cymbal rod when the second sprocket is rotated with the first sprocket upon depressinq the foot plate. The first and second sprockets are eccentrically mounted on the shaft and offset from one another such that the ratio of vertical cymbal rod movement to pivotal foot plate movement will vary during the stroke of the foot plate.
