A packing method for applying a heat-seal overwrap to a package of tobacco articles having an inner container, which houses a group of tobacco articles; an outer container housing the inner container in sliding manner; and a hinged lid, which closes an open top end of the inner container; the packing method including the steps of folding a sheet of heat-seal wrapping material into a tube about the package to form a tubular wrapping; folding two ends of the tubular wrapping to complete the overwrap; stabilizing the overwrap with two transverse heat seals; and, at least when making the transverse heat seals, compressing a front wall of the outer container, so as to move at least part of a top edge of the front wall of the outer container beneath a top wall of the lid.

Packing method for applying a heat-seal overwrap to a hinged-lid, slide-open package of tobacco articles

Described is a packet for tobacco products comprising two containers of tobacco products each substantially having the shape of a parallelepiped and provided with two larger side walls, two smaller side walls, a bottom wall and a top wall, the packet has an outer wrapper having at least one connection panel and at least two additional panels, in particular the containers are connected to the outer wrapper at the at least one connection panel; the packet is provided with a lid, hinged along a first hinge to one of the additional panels, which is able to rotate between a closed position and an open position of the packet and, in the closed position, keeping each of the two additional panels in contact with a respective larger side wall of each container.

A package of tobacco articles including an inner container which houses a group of tobacco articles, and has an open top end, and a lid hinged to close the open top end, an outer container housing the inner container to allow the inner container to slide with respect to the outer container between a closed configuration and an open configuration, and a sealing flap hinged to a top edge of a front wall of the outer container and movable between a work position, in which the sealing flap is perpendicular to the front wall of the outer container and located beneath a top wall of the lid of the inner container, and a rest position, in which the sealing flap is parallel to the front wall of the outer container.

In a cigarette packer, groups of single cigarettes are first assembled by a formation unit and placed in trays carried by a conveyor, then directed in succession along a set feed path, advancing sideways-on, toward a wrapping unit by which each one is enveloped in a transparent or at least partly transparent wrapper; during the transfer from the formation unit to the wrapping unit, the trays are directed past a print unit stationed along the feed path, by which at least one graphic element such as lettering or a logo is impressed on at least one cigarette making up each group.
