A prosthesis can comprise an expandable frame, a plurality of distal anchors and a plurality of proximal anchors. The anchors can extend outwardly from the frame. The frame can be configured to radially expand and contract for deployment within a body cavity. The frame and anchors can have one of many different shapes and configurations. For example, when the frame is in an expanded configuration, the frame can have a larger cross-sectional dimension in a middle portion of the frame and a smaller cross-sectional dimension in a proximal portion and a distal portion of the frame, wherein the middle portion is between the proximal and distal portions. As another example, the anchors can have looped ends, the entire anchor may loop out from the frame.

Prosthesis for atraumatically grasping intralumenal tissue and methods of delivery

Certain embodiments of the present disclosure provide a prosthetic valve (e.g., prosthetic heart valve) and a valve delivery apparatus for delivery of the prosthetic valve to a native valve site via the human vasculature. The delivery apparatus is particularly suited for advancing a prosthetic heart valve through the aorta (i.e., in a retrograde approach) for replacing a diseased native aortic valve. The delivery apparatus in particular embodiments is configured to deploy a prosthetic valve from a delivery sheath in a precise and controlled manner at the target location within the body.

Prosthetic heart valve delivery apparatus

A prosthesis for placement within a native heart valve preferably includes an expandable frame having locking tabs disposed along a proximal end. A plurality of distal anchors is disposed along a distal end of the frame. Each distal anchor is provided with a cushion cover. An outer fabric member surrounds the frame and may extend outwardly from the frame in an expanded condition for providing an improved seal in the region of a native annulus. A valve body is positioned within an interior of the expandable from for allowing blood flow in only one direction. In preferred embodiments, the cushions are positioned over enlarged head portions of the distal anchors for further reducing trauma on surrounding tissue.

Replacement heart valve

A mitral valve prosthesis includes an expandable frame having a proximal end, a distal end, and a middle portion. A plurality of tips extends from the proximal end of the frame for attachment to a delivery catheter. A plurality of anchors is disposed along the distal end of the frame and extend toward the proximal end for engaging tissue. An outer circumferential portion extends around the middle portion of the frame and is positioned radially outwardly of the frame. The outer circumferential portion preferably increases in diameter along a distal direction. A distal end of the outer circumferential portion is located distal of free ends of the anchors when the expandable frame is deployed. A valve body is positioned within an interior of the expandable frame and includes leaflets adapted to allow flow in a first direction and prevent flow in a second direction.

Replacement heart valves and methods of delivery

A prosthesis can comprise an expandable frame, a plurality of distal anchors and a plurality of proximal anchors. The anchors can extend outwardly from the frame. The frame can be configured to radially expand and contract for deployment within a body cavity. The frame and anchors can have one of many different shapes and configurations. For example, when the frame is in an expanded configuration, the proximal anchors can extend a significant distance away from the exterior of the frame, such as a length equal to or greater than about one half the diameter of the frame. As another example, the anchors can have looped ends.

Prosthesis for atraumatically grapsing intralumenal tissue and methods of delivery

The disclosure relates to a device for supporting functions of a heart valve and methods for making and using the same. The device includes a flow optimizer configured to be located in the valve and having a cross sectional area that reduces a regurgitation orifice of the valve during systole. The device includes an anchoring mechanism coupled to the flow optimizer and configured to fix a position of the flow optimizer relative to the valve. The flow optimizer allows hemodynamic flow during diastole, minimizing risk of inducing atrioventricular pressure gradient and thrombogenesis, and seals or minimizes the regurgitation orifice during systole and reinstates efficacy of the valve. The anchoring system requires no traumatic interaction with the valve, atrium and ventricle. Implantation of the device can be achieved without invasive surgery. The device permits intra-procedural optimization of the positioning of the flow optimizer.

Heart valve support device and methods for making and using the same

A handle for a prosthetic heart valve delivery apparatus includes a housing, a motorized mechanism, and a holding mechanism. The housing is configured to be hand-held by a user and includes a distal opening. The motorized mechanism is disposed within the housing and is configured to be releasably coupled to a proximal end portion of a first shaft of the prosthetic heart valve delivery apparatus. When actuated, the motorized mechanism is configured to rotate the first shaft relative to the housing. The holding mechanism is disposed inside the housing and is configured to engage a proximal end portion of a second shaft of the prosthetic heart valve delivery apparatus such that the second shaft is axially and rotationally fixed relative to the housing, and the first shaft extends through the second shaft.

Devices for assisting with the functioning of a tricuspid valve of a heart include a shaft, a flow optimizer, and an anchoring mechanism. A tilting mechanism can be configured to tilt the shaft relative to a central axis of the anchoring mechanism. Leaflets (e.g., multi-layer leaflets) of the flow optimizer can include a membrane and a rim, and the rim can have a higher stiffness than the membrane.

Heart valve support device

Certain embodiments of the present disclosure provide a prosthetic valve (e.g., prosthetic heart valve) and a valve delivery apparatus for delivery of the prosthetic valve to a native valve site via the human vasculature. The prosthetic valve comprises a frame or stent that comprises multiple cells arranged in unique ways. The prosthetic valve also comprises a leaflet assembly coupled to the frame and having a plurality of leaflets, wherein the leaflets are configured to allow blood to flow through the prosthetic heart valve in one direction from an inflow end portion to an outflow end portion of the frame or stent.

Devices, systems and methods are described herein a prosthesis for implantation within a lumen or body cavity and delivery systems for delivering the prosthesis to a location for implantation. A delivery system can include a plurality of components, including a flexible nose cone, multi-layer sheath, and pre-compressed shaft, which can be moveable relative to each other.

Replacement mitral valve, delivery system for replacement mitral valve and methods of use

A prosthetic heart valve delivery system can include a catheter portion having a sheath that can cover and uncover the prosthetic heart valve mounted on an inner shaft, a handle having a sheath actuator operatively coupled to a proximal portion of the sheath, the inner shaft extending through the handle, and a shaft retractor releasably coupled to a proximal portion of the handle and fixedly coupled to a proximal portion of the inner shaft. A sheath actuator can move the sheath axially relative to the inner shaft when the shaft retractor is coupled to the handle, and a proximal movement of the sheath relative to the inner shaft can cause the sheath to uncover the prosthetic heart valve. The shaft retractor can be operable to retract the inner shaft and the nosecone proximally relative to the sheath when the shaft retractor is released from the handle.
