A radio frequency filter () comprises an input impedance adaption section () and a tank capacitor section (). Thereby, the capacity of the input impedance adaption section () does not comprise a fixed capacitor, it only comprises switchable capacitors. Further, the tank capacitor section () does not comprise a fixed capacitor as well it only comprises switchable capacitors. The capacity of the input impedance adaption section () can be tuned independent of the tank capacity, section capacity by means of switchable capacitors. Hence, bandwidth and frequency of the radio frequency filter can be modified independent of each other. The imput impendance adaption section () is connected in series between the input and output of the filter (). The tank capacitor section () is shunt connected between the input-output series path of the filter () and ground. Optionally a gain/attenuation adaption section () is in series connected with the imput impedance adaption section () in the input-output path of the filter ().

Radio frequency filter

A tunable RF filter, comprising: an emitter follower stage (); and a common emitter stage (); the common emitter stage () providing feedback to the emitter follower stage (). The common emitter stage () may comprise a first transistor (Ti) being the only transistor of the common emitter stage (); and the emitter follower stage () may comprise a second transistor (T) being the only transistor of the emitter follower stage (). A further tunable RF filter provides improved linearity, comprising: an emitter follower stage (); a joint common emitter and emitter follower stage (); and a gain stage (); a common emitter output of the joint common emitter and emitter follower stage () providing feedback to the emitter follower stage (), and an emitter follower output of the joint common emitter and emitter follower stage () providing an input to the gain stage ().

Tunable RF filter

An automatic gain control (AGC) circuit based on a cascade of a step automatic gain control unit and a second automatic gain control unit connected to adjust their gain in a synchronized manner to result in a combined impulsive gain variation. Hereby it is possible, e.g. to use a step automatic gain control unit instead of a continuous automatic gain control unit in an RF part of a TV tuner without resulting in visual artifacts&#x2014;this applies both for digital and analog TV tuners. According to a preferred embodiment, the synchronization between the two automatic gain control units may be achieved by the first automatic gain control unit generating a control signal upon gain adjustment, this control signal serving to speed up a loop bandwidth controlling gain change of the second automatic gain control unit. In another embodiment, the control signal generated by the first automatic gain control unit is used to control a gain step of the second automatic gain control unit. In addition, the invention provides a tuner with an automatic gain control unit as mentioned, and a device, e.g. a TV or a hard disc recorder with such tuner.

Automatic gain control circuit

An RF receiver comprising: an amplifier configured to receive an RF signal over an input bandwidth and to provide an amplified RF signal; an equalizer circuit connected to the amplifier to receive the amplified RF signal and configured to provide an equalized RF signal; a converter module connected to the equalizer circuit and comprising an analog to digital converter configured to convert the equalized RF signal to a digital signal; and a digital signal processing module connected to the receiver module and configured to process the digital signal to provide a plurality of channels at an output of the receiver, wherein the digital signal processing module is further configured to process the digital signal to determine a measure of tilt in the RF signal across the input bandwidth and is connected to the equalizer circuit to provide a control signal for adjusting the measured tilt.

This invention relates to a method, a computer program product, a device, and a system, wherein a receiver unit (') is configured to operate in a single-channel mode and in a multi-channel mode, wherein in the single-channel mode the receiver unit (&#x2032;) is configured to output exactly one channel of a received signal, and in the multiple-channel mode the receiver unit (&#x2032;) is configured to output at least two channels of the received signal.
