An oscillator circuit () comprises a first tank circuit (T) comprising an inductive element (L) and a capacitive element (C) coupled in series between a first voltage rail () and a first drive node (). A feedback stage (F) is coupled to a first tank output () of the first tank circuit (T) and to the first drive node (). The feedback stage (F) is arranged to generate, responsive to a first oscillating tank voltage present at the first tank output (), a first oscillating drive signal at the first drive node () in-phase with a first oscillating tank current flowing in the inductive element (L) and the capacitive element (C), thereby causing the oscillator () to oscillate in a series resonance mode of the inductive element (L) and the capacitive element (C).

Series-resonance oscillator

An oscillator circuit comprises a first tank circuit comprising an inductive element and a capacitive element coupled in series between a first voltage rail and a first drive node. A feedback stage is coupled to a first tank output of the first tank circuit and to the first drive node. The feedback stage is arranged to generate, responsive to a first oscillating tank voltage present at the first tank output, a first oscillating drive voltage at the first drive node in-phase with a first oscillating tank current flowing in the inductive element and the capacitive element, thereby causing the oscillator to oscillate in a series resonance mode of the inductive element and the capacitive element.

A system includes a balun, a power monitoring circuit, a first circuit, and a second circuit. The balun includes a first inductor to receive an input and a second inductor to couple the input to a load. The power monitoring circuit is configured to monitor an amount of power being delivered to the load when the input is coupled to the load. The first circuit is configured to couple an entire of the second inductor to the first inductor when a first power is delivered to the load. The second circuit is configured to couple a portion of the second inductor to the first inductor when a second power that is less than the first power is delivered to the load.

Tunable balun

In accordance with an embodiment of the disclosure, circuits and methods are provided for using a reconfigurable voltage controlled oscillator to support multi-mode applications. A voltage control oscillator circuit comprises a resonant circuit, a first oscillator circuitry coupled to the resonant circuit, and a second oscillator circuitry coupled to the resonant circuit. The voltage control oscillator circuit further comprises switching circuitry configured to select, based on an operating metric, one of the first oscillator circuitry and the second oscillator circuitry for providing an output voltage.

Reconfigurable voltage controlled oscillator for supporting multi-mode applications

In one embodiment, an apparatus includes a first circuit of a digitally controlled oscillator (DCO). The first circuit has a loss component. A second circuit is coupled to the first circuit and configured to transform a positive impedance into a negative impedance in series with a negative resistance. The negative impedance includes an adjustable reactive component used to adjust a frequency of an output signal of the DCO. An equivalent reactance seen by the first circuit is less than a reactance of the adjustable reactive component.
