A method of treating prostatic tissue includes trans-perineally introducing at least one energy delivery device in the prostate of a patient. Once the energy delivery device has been introduced, energy is delivered to a volume of tissue of the prostate until the volume is vaporized or sublimated and a cavity is formed in the prostate tissue. The energy delivery device can then be removed from the prostate.

Laser treatment of the prostate

The device comprises at least a laser source (); an optical fiber () with an optical radiation entrance end () and an optical radiation output end (); and a coupling system () for coupling the laser source () and the optical fiber (), adapted to inject an optical radiation emitted by the laser source () into the entrance end () of the optical fiber (). The optical fiber () is a multi-mode optical fiber. Device for laser thermal ablation with centering means and equipment comprising said device

The device comprises an outer tubular structure () having a closed terminal end, and an inner tubular structure () positioned in the outer tubular structure () and having a side wall with a terminal end and defining an inner volume. A first gap for circulation of a coolant is formed between the outer tubular structure and the inner tubular structure. A light guide () is housed in the inner volume of the inner tubular structure (). The light guide comprises an optical fiber () and a diffuser () optically coupled to a distal end of the optical fiber. The diffuser is at least partially made of a material diffusing to the electromagnetic radiation conveyed by the light guide, and has a curved shape.

The method of treating benign prostatic hyperplasia comprises trans-perineally introducing at least one energy delivery device through a perineal area of the patient in a first position in a prostate of the patient. Once the energy delivery device has been introduced, energy is delivered through the delivery device to a volume of tissue of the prostate, until the volume is vaporized or sublimated and a cavity is formed in the prostate tissue. The energy delivery device can then be removed from the prostate. Vaporization of adenomatous tissue provides immediate relieve of the urethra compression.

Laser treatment of benign prostatic hypertrophy

A description is given of a method of spectral analysis of a radio frequency ultrasonic signal reflected by a structure subjected to echographic examination, comprising the steps of: a) transmitting an ultrasonic excitation signal into a portion of said structure under examination; b) receiving a radio frequency response signal from said structure; c) applying a time-frequency transform to said radio frequency response signal, dividing the radio frequency response signal into a plurality of frequency bands; d) calculating a local spectral parameter from the values of the time-frequency transform.

Method and device for spectral analysis of an echographic signal

The method decomposes the radio frequency signal into sub-bands by filtering, for example with a time-frequency transform. From the coefficients acquired through decomposition a matrix of spectral coefficients is obtained, from which local estimators are obtained, constituted in particular by the coefficients of the interpolating polynomials. The statistical distribution of the local estimators is evaluated in windows overlaid on the ultrasound frame. The conformation of the distribution histograms of the spectral coefficients provides a parameter which, combined with the local estimators, provides weighted local estimators, which contain spectral information useful in the identification of specific structures in the organ subjected to ultrasound analysis.
