A technique for managing power in an embedded processing system includes generating a workload model for the embedded processing system in response to a control signal, an event status signal, and a reference clock signal. The control signal is received from a peripheral device. The event status signal is received from an event processor configured to control execution of tasks by a processor core of the embedded processing system. The technique includes providing power configuration information to the processor core. The power configuration information corresponds to an operating point selected based on the control signal, the event status signal, the reference clock signal, the workload model, and a predetermined energy model.

Event-based power manager

A method to design a Networks on Chips (NoCs)-based communication system for connecting on-chip components in a multicore system, said system comprising several elements communicating through the communication system, said communication system comprising at least switches, said method comprising the steps of modelling the applications running on the multicore system, establishing the number and configuration of switches to connect the elements, establishing physical connectivity between the elements and the switches, for each two pairs of communicating elements: (a) a defining a communication path, (b) calculating metrics as affected by the need to render said path into physical connectivity, taking into account any previously defined physical connectivity, (c) iterating the steps a and b for a plurality of possible paths, (d) choosing the path having the optimal metrics, and (e) establishing any missing physical connectivity between the switches so that the selected optimal path occurs across physically connected switches.

Method to design network-on-chip (NOC)-based communication systems

An improvement in a real time operating system for supporting at least one application, a processor and at least one hardware resource. The operating system includes a power manager layer. Such power manager layer is arranged to exchange information with an application, the processor and at least one hardware resource to provide real time power management responsive to the information.
