An apparatus for producing and further processing slabs of a metal, preferably steel, comprises: a continuous casting apparatus, which is designed to produce at least one cast strand and to transport it in a transport direction; a cutting device, which is arranged behind the continuous casting apparatus, as seen in the transport direction, and is designed to cut the cast strand into slabs; at least a first route and a second route, which implement, at least in some portions, different process lines for the further processing of the slabs; and a process control system, which is designed to make a route decision on a slab-specific basis as a function of at least one measured or calculated process parameter, which route decision assigns one of the plurality of routes to the respective slab, and to initiate the further processing of the corresponding slab along the assigned route.

Apparatus and method for producing and further processing of slabs

A method for cutting a cast strand or intermediate strip using shears. In order to facilitate improved rolling of the section having significantly reduced thickness, the method according has the following steps: a) bringing part of the completely solidified cast strand or intermediate strip in the conveying direction (F) of the cast strand or intermediate strip in front of the shears; b) placing a first blade of the shears onto the one surface of the cast strand or intermediate strip and placing a second blade of the shears onto the other surface of the cast strand or intermediate strip and performing a cut by carrying out a relative movement of the two blades, wherein at least one of the blades is in a pushed-forward position; c) upset forging or upset forging with stamping a wedge-shaped contour on the end of the cast strand.

Method for producing a metal strip by casting and rolling

A method and a device for improving the outer surface quality by an in-line outer surface treatment of slabs, which are produced in a continuous process from strand casting to hot rolling, with a heating furnace arranged between a CSP-casting machine and a hot rolling train. A defined surface of the slab with a layer thickness per slab side of up to 4 mm is oxidized in a targeted manner by an oxidation device. An oxidation treatment of the slab surface is combined with the following processing in-line method steps: prior to the oxidation treatment the outer surface of the slab is freed of naturally occurring scale by a scale washer, after the oxidation treatment a created oxidation layer as well as the newly formed scale is cooled, mechanically broken up in a roll pair and removed from the surface of the slab by a scale washer.
