An information handling system (IHS) is provided which includes a system processor and a wireless section coupled to the system processor. While the system processor remains in a reduced power state, the wireless section is operable to be powered up to detect the presence of a wireless network external to the IHS and determine if that detected wireless network matches a network included in profile information stored in a memory that is accessible by the wireless section. An indicator is coupled to the wireless section and is operable to provide an indication that a wireless network is present.

An information handling system (IHS) is provided which includes a wireless section that detects the presence of an available wireless network on which the IHS can communicate. When an initialize scan switch is actuated, the wireless section is powered up to perform a scan while other sections of the IHS remain unpowered. In this manner, an available wireless network can be detected without fully powering up the IHS to check for wireless network connections.

A system, method and software for managing power, operating states and transition within a stylus based information handling system (IHS) are provided. In one aspect, a parking garage operable to detect the presence of an IHS stylus is provided. When the stylus is detected in the parking garage, an IHS digitizer operable to receive stylus input may be operated in a reduced power state. In a method and system for controlling a device coupled to an information handling system, an object is defined to include a hardware and software component having a corresponding hardware operating state and a software operating state. The hardware component is operable to receive at least one hardware input, which is indicative of a target hardware operating state. The software component is operable to receive at least one software input, which is indicative of a target software operating state. A coordination component is included in the software component to receive the hardware and software inputs, and control the operating state of the device in response to the target hardware operating state and the target software operating state.

Method for consistent on/off object to control radios and other interfaces

A method for optimizing the use of wireless peripheral devices if described. The optimization is achieved by monitoring the signal integrity of each wireless device operating within the computer system. When the signal integrity of a wireless device degrades due to the interference from other wireless devices operating within the computing system, beyond certain predefined optimal range, the communication parameters of each wireless peripheral devices are adjusted reiteratively to obtain the most efficient configuration for optimal throughput and optimal energy efficiency for each wireless peripheral device. The configuration constantly changes within the environment based on the interference from internal and external wireless devices.
