The invention relates to a method for performing a diagnosis of a camera system () of a motor vehicle () by: providing at least one image (BD) by means of a camera (); detecting an object () in the image (BD) by means of an image processing device; providing sensor data (SD) by means of at least one sensor () of the motor vehicle (), wherein the sensor data (SD) characterizes environmental conditions of the motor vehicle (); first classifying the object () and herein associating the object () with a class (K, K, K, K) among several predetermined classes (K, K, K, K) depending on the environmental conditions, wherein the classes (K, K, K, K) differ from each other with respect to the environmental conditions; second classifying the at least one object () and herein associating the object () with one of the classes (K, K, K, K) based on the image (BD) and independently of the sensor data (SD) by a classification device () using a predetermined classification model (); and comparing classification results of the first and the second classification and performing a diagnosis depending on the comparison.

An obstacle detection procedure within the area surrounding a motor vehicle comprising the following stages: carrying out a first obstacle detection by image processing resulting in a definition of at least one region of interest, classifying the detected obstacle with an index of confidence applied to the region of interest in relation to given characteristics, carrying out a second obstacle detection by sensor/s with detection range below a first threshold resulting in a determined position, projecting the determined position into a reference marker, projecting the region of interest into this reference marker and aligning the two projections obtained and attributing a determined position to the obstacle classified in accordance with the alignment.

Obstacle detection procedure for motor vehicle

An obstacle detection procedure and detection device within the area surrounding a motor vehicle featuring the following: to define at least one first region of interest by carrying out a first detection of an obstacle by shape recognition in an acquired image of this environment; to define at least one second region of interest by carrying out a second detection of an obstacle by movement detection in relation to the vehicle on a sequence of acquired images of this environment; to classify the detected obstacle with, respectively, a first and second index of confidence applied to the first and second regions of interest in relation to given characteristics; and to validate the classification of the object detected in relation to these indices of confidence and in relation to these regions of interest resulting in validated regions of interest.
