Embodiments of the present invention relate to methods and apparatuses for processing an image that shows multiple deposit items, where the image was captured by a remote capture device. For example, some embodiments provide a method that includes: (a) displaying a grid on a display associated with a remote capture device, where the remote capture device is configured to capture an image that shows multiple deposit items, and where the grid comprises a plurality of grid portions; and (b) prompting a user of the remote capture device to arrange the multiple deposit items, or to position or operate the remote capture device, such that each of the deposit items in the multiple deposit items appears in a single grid portion of the display before the image is captured.

A system and method for efficient image cashletter processing where an image cashletter including a plurality of monetary records is received. Failed monetary records in the image cashletter are separated out from good monetary records in the image cashletter. The good monetary records are processed independently of processing the failed monetary records, therefore, allowing the good monetary records to continue to be processed without having to wait for the failed monetary records to be repaired.

Image integrity in an archive can be verified using document characteristics. Embodiments of the invention provide a way to verify the integrity of a stored document image by determining document characteristics, which can also be embedded in the image file. Before allowing access to the image file by an application, the characteristics data from an image analysis can be compared to either or both of, characteristics information otherwise stored, or embedded characteristics data. The embedded data can optionally be encrypted. In example embodiments the data can include a result of an optical character recognition of contents of the document, a length of data describing the image, a percentage of a specified color of pixels in the image, or a checksum. Example embedding techniques can include those making use of a tagged image file format (TIFF) header, a steganographic watermark, or an image artifact.

Ensuring image integrity using document characteristics

An apparatus and method for validation of images and their associated Tag Image File Format (TIFF) tags in an image cash letter. One or more image cash letters (ICLs) are received. Each image cash letter is validated that it satisfies defined image and TIFF validation rules. Image cash letters are identified that have non-conforming images that do not pass the image and TIFF validation rules. Errors associated with the non-conforming images are automatically sent to an originator of the identified image cash letter that has the non-conforming images. Various reports may be generated identifying errors in the non-conforming images and associated originators of the errors.

For example, some embodiments provide a method that includes: (a) receiving an image that shows multiple deposit items, where the image was captured by a remote capture device; (b) determining that a first portion of the image is satisfactory for identifying deposit item information therein; (c) determining that a second portion of the image is unsatisfactory for identifying deposit item information therein; and (d) performing a function based at least partially on the determining that the second portion of the image is unsatisfactory for identifying deposit item information therein. In some embodiments, the function includes enhancing the second portion of the image. In other embodiments, the function includes prompting a user of the remote capture device to capture a second image to replace the second portion of the image.

Processing images associated with the remote capture of multiple deposit items

The present invention provides systems, methods, and computer program products for performing validation and clearance at a transaction item level for transaction received in a batch format. Each transaction of the batch is stored separately in a storage system, such as a logical database. Typically, image data and electronic data for a transaction are stored separately in the storage system and may be linked to each other. Each transaction is separately accessible and/or updateable. Each transaction stored in the storage system is separately analyzed to validate that the transaction is at least balanced. Transactions that determined to be balanced are cleared irrespective of a balance status associated with other transactions associated with the batch of transactions, such that transactions are individually cleared as opposed to being cleared in a batch format.

Systems, methods, and computer program products for performing item level transaction processing

An automated system can be provided for continuously and accurately assigning float to deposit credits within a financial institution. A normalized market segment is continuously assigned to each account by extracting information from a plurality of disparate demand deposit account systems. Deposit credits are gathered from disparate known capture sites and the normalized market segment is assigned to a deposit credit for a corresponding account. A float assignment can then be made for a deposit credit so that the float reflects both a deposit location and current domestic information for the corresponding account. A system for implementing the invention can include a float system connected to a transaction exchange system.

Automated float pricing for geographically distributed deposits and accounts

A method and system for enhanced check image privacy are disclosed. Embodiments of the present invention provide a way to automatically link the results from quality assurance software to a check image archive to appropriately mark images as unretrievable by customers. Images are interrogated with a data matching algorithm to determine whether a confidence score expressing a likelihood that the image matches associated, stored magnetic ink character recognition (MICR) data is below a pre-set threshold. The image can be then automatically designated in the financial document archive. The image can be displayed to an operator for analysis when the confidence score is above the pre-set threshold and below a pre-set limit, or in cases where the confidence score cannot be determined by the data matching algorithm.

Method and system for enhanced check image privacy

A debit card system for implementing an incentive award program for a customer having participants. A plurality of debit cards, each assigned to one participant and having a unique account number corresponding to an award account of the participant is part of the system. A bank filter processor accesses program data including data identifying the authorized unique account numbers of the participants, data identifying the authorized merchants and data indicating the balance in each participant's award account. The filter processor compares this program data to the following transaction data: the initiating account number of the card as initiating the transaction, the merchant identification data of the initiating merchant, and the data regarding the amount of the initiated transaction. The filter processor generates validating data for the transaction when the evaluated transaction data indicates that the transaction has been initiated by an authorized merchant using the unique account number of one of the participants having a sufficient balance in the participant's corresponding award account to cover the transaction. Otherwise, invalidating data is generated.
