Optical film laminates of birefringent polyester films and adhesive are disclosed. The laminates have a thickness of at least 10 mils (0.25 mm). The laminates of the invention are useful in displays having a diagonal of 37 in (94 cm) or greater.

Optical film laminates

A thulium doped silicate glass composition which contains SiO, AlO, and LaOemits visible and UV light when excited by infrared light. The glass composition may also contain GeOand ErO. When excited by infrared light of about 1060 nm, the glass emits visible light at fluorescent transitions of the Tmions with major broad features at 365, 455, 472, 651, and 791 nm.

Silicate glass for upconversion fluorescence

A stabilizing agent and backfill composition for providing a thermally stable environment for buried electrical equipment comprising from about 90 to about 99 percent by weight soil and from about 1 to about 10 percent by weight of the stabilizing agent, which is comprised of a mixture of clay and a dispersing agent therefor, wherein the dispersing agent comprises at least about 0.25 percent by weight of the stabilizing agent.
