Disclosed are systems and methods for managing online identity authentication risk in a nuanced identity system. For example, a method may include receiving a request by a user for a transaction on an electronic platform; determining a risk associated with the requested transaction; determining a current level of assurance associated with the user on the electronic platform; determining that the risk exceeds the current level of assurance; adjusting the current level of assurance such that the adjusted level of assurance exceeds the risk; and executing the requested transaction on the electronic platform after adjusting the current level of assurance.

Systems and methods for managing online identity authentication risk in a nuanced identity system

Systems and methods for authorizing an Internet of Things (IoT) application of an IoT device (such as a smart TV or a set-top box microconsole). Examples can include establishing, by the IoT application, a connection with a mobile application of a mobile device. The connection can be a wireless link that has a maximum range less than or equal to 400 meters (such as a Bluetooth or a near-field communication (NFC) link). Examples can also include sending, by the IoT application, a request to a remote server to return a connector code. The request can include an identification of the wireless link. Examples can also include receiving, by the IoT application, the connector code from the remote server or a second server, and transferring, by the IoT application, the connector code to the mobile application via the wireless link.

Single sign-on (SSO) for internet of things (IoT) applications

In one embodiment, a user password is received in relation to a user identifier, wherein the user identifier and user password are associated with a user account. A request to opt-in to use of system-generated passwords instead of the user password is received. A substitute password for the user account is generated and provided.

On demand passwords

In one embodiment, a user identifier associated with a user account is received. Indications of a plurality of authentication mechanisms available for authentication are provided for display via the client device. Input indicating a number of authentication mechanisms to be used for authentication in association with the user account is received from the client device, wherein the input includes a selection of one or more of the plurality of authentication mechanisms. Information is stored in association with the user account, where the information indicates the number of authentication mechanisms to be used for authentication in association with the user account and indicates the selected authentication mechanisms. At least a subset of the selected authentication mechanisms are used for authentication in association with the user account.
