A disposable, one-piece swimsuit for girls includes a bodice attached to a chassis. The bodice is designed to provide upper torso coverage while the chassis can include absorbent and containment features. The upper torso coverage contributes to social decency and also protects the wearer's skin against excessive exposure to the sun. The absorbent and containment features can either be integrated within the chassis or can be in the form of a separate, pant-like, absorbent garment covered by the chassis.

Disposable one-piece swimsuit for girls

An absorbent article is disclosed which exhibits improved fluid management. The article includes an absorbent having first and second oppositely aligned surfaces and a longitudinally extending central axis. A bicomponent cover is positioned over the first surface of the absorbent and includes a first and a second material. The first material has openings formed therein and is aligned along the longitudinally extending central axis of the absorbent. The second material is nonapertured and is secured to, or positioned adjacent to, the outer periphery of the first material. The first and second materials cooperate to enclose the absorbent. Positioned between the first material and the first surface of the absorbent is a separation means. The separation means directs fluid from the body downward, in the z direction, away from the bicomponent cover, and outward in the x and y directions to provide a more efficient use of the absorbent material. The absorbent article further contains a liquid-impermeable baffle which is positioned adjacent to the second surface of the absorbent.

Absorbent article exhibiting improved fluid management

An absorbent article is disclosed for absorbing and retaining human exudate. The article includes a liquid permeable bodyside liner, a baffle and an absorbent positioned therebetween. The baffle is constructed of a liquid-impermeable inner layer and a cloth-like outer layer. The baffle and liner are joined together about their outer peripheries to enclose the absorbent. The absorbent has an hourglass shape with enlarged end portions separated by a narrow center portion. A pair of walls are formed on opposite sides of the center portion of the absorbent by securing an elastic strip between the liner and the baffle. The walls extend upward and outward from the center portion and are separated by a distance approximately equal to the width of one of the end portions. The upstanding walls prevent side leakage of body fluid, especially during periods of high fluid flow.
