Flexible batteries

Embodiments of the present invention relate to wearable computing devices. In some embodiments, a wearable computing devices ('WCD') for monitoring occupational hazards are disclosed. The WCD may include an apparel item having one or more control circuits affixed thereto. One or more sensors may be communicatively coupled to the computing device and configured to detect or monitor at least one of an aspect of a user of the WCD and an ambient environment of the user. The control circuits can be configured to generate one or more notifications when sensor data comprises a value above a threshold amount.

Wearable computing device for monitoring hazards

In some embodiments, frames and methods are provided herein useful to assess contents of personal wearable item). In some embodiments, the frame includes a substrate and a system positioned on a section of the frame's substrate. The substrate includes sections positioned adjacent relative to each other and each distinguished by a demarcation; and coupling elements configured to affix the substrate to a surface(s) of the wearable item. The system includes sensor(s), transceiver(s), and I/O device(s) conductively coupled to a control circuit(s). The sensor(s) and transceiver(s), each oriented toward and away from the interior of the wearable item, respectively, each include conductive elements that transmit and/or intercept electromagnetic energy. The control circuit(s) can utilize the sensor to receive wireless signals transmitted by computing device; received wireless signals to determine the presence of the computing devices; and the I/O device(s) to present the status of the presence of the wireless signal.

Apparatus and method to assess the contents of wearable items

Generally speaking, pursuant to various embodiments, interconnect apparatuses are provided herein to couple flexible circuits to control circuits. In some embodiments, the apparatus can comprise a first portion housing a control circuit and a second portion conductively coupled to a flexible circuit. The second portion can comprise a first seat housing and a second seat housing, which together can form a housing around the flexible circuit. The control circuit can conductively couple to the flexible circuit when the first portion couples to the second portion. The flexible circuit can be included in an apparel item and comprise a conductive trace. The conductive trace can comprise a conductive composition. The first seat housing can comprise a lateral wall and a flange extending peripherally from the lateral wall. The flange can comprise a longitudinal co-extensive lateral recess flanking the flexible circuit.

Interconnect device

Generally speaking, pursuant to various embodiments, interconnect apparatuses are provided herein to couple flexible circuits to control circuits. In some embodiments, the apparatus can include a first portion housing one or more control circuits and a second portion conductively coupled to a flexible circuit. In some embodiments, the first portion may be configured to be coupled to the second portion such that the control circuit can be conductively coupled to the flexible circuit when the first portion is coupled to the second portion. In some embodiments, the control circuit can be configured to capture temperature readings. In some embodiments, the control circuit can be configured to capture proximity readings. In some embodiments, the control circuit can be configured to include one or more communications devices.

Apparatus and method to assess contents of wearable items

Embodiments of the present invention relate to graphene-based capacitive sensors. In one embodiment, a touch sensor comprises a non-porous insulating substrate having a first side and a second side. A first conductive material is at least partially in communication with the first side. A second conductive material is at least partially in communication with the first side. A third conductive material is at least partially in communication with the second side. The first conductive material and the second conductive material are in communication. The first conductive material forms a linearization pattern. The first conductive material includes a metal. The second conductive material and/or third conductive material comprise graphene sheets.

Capacitive sensor

Embodiments of the present invention relate to a wearable personal thermal management system and an associated method of manufacture. The PTMS comprises a harness that includes one or more cooling components and/or heating components. The harness include an upper-torso wearable portion and/or a lower-torso wearable portion. The PTSM provides a heating and/or cooling effects to one or more thermally sensitive areas of its user when worn.
