A method and a device for assisting the positioning of a device capable of connecting to a Wi-Fi local area network of a domestic gateway of a user. Such a method is implemented by a mobile terminal placed in a domestic environment of the user. The Wi-Fi signal levels emitted by the mobile terminal and received by the domestic gateway originate from the domestic gateway, and at successive time intervals, and an average is calculated during a sliding time window and of a determined duration. This average is compared with a value of at least one determined threshold. A piece of information representative of the area of the domestic environment in which the mobile terminal is located with respect to the domestic gateway, is returned to the user.

Method and device for assisting the positioning of a device capable of connecting to a Wi-Fi local area network of a home gateway of a user

A method and device for recording a service in a local network are described. The service includes a set of actions to be carried out on at least one terminal of the network to provide a part of the service. The method includes obtaining a unique identifier, finding capacities of the network terminals, acquiring the found terminal capacities, constructing the service as a sequence of actions on at least one found terminal via a user interface, associating the service with the unique identifier, and recording the service and the associated unique identifier.

Service recording in a local area network

The invention relates to a process for transmitting and a process for receiving update data. According to the invention, the update data are dispatched by a communication center to terminals with the aid of a broadcasting network. Next, the terminals report their update to the center through a bidirectional network. The center renews the campaign or stops the current campaign as a function of the number of terminals updated. When only a minimum number of terminals to be updated remains, the campaign is stopped, the last terminals not updated will be so via the bidirectional link. The invention also relates to the center implementing a dispatch process and the receiver for receiving and processing the update data.

Method for downloading data preceded by information signals

Update data is dispatched by a communication center to terminals with the aid of a broadcasting network. Next, the terminals report their update to the center through a bidirectional network. The center renews a current campaign or stops the campaign as a function of the number of terminals updated. When only a minimum number of terminals need to be updated, the campaign is stopped and the last terminals that were not updated through the campaign transmitted through broadcast network will be updated via the bidirectional link.

Process for downloading data preceded by announcement signals

The invention relates to pairing a slave device with a master device, for example decoders in a conditional access system. There is provided a security module that stores a device state that indicates whether a decoder shall be a master or a slave decoder. There is also provided a method in a conditional access system of providing a device with a device state stored on a security module. It is detected that the security module is in connection with the device and the device state is transferred from the security module to the device. There is further provided a method of pairing a slave device with a master device. The slave device asks the master device to identify itself, the master device returns an identification, and if the slave device has not yet been paired with a master device, it checks the identity of the master device and, if the identity is verified pairs with the master device. There is also provided a first, slave, device for pairing with a second, master, device. The first device comprises an interface for sending an identification command to and receiving an identification message from the master device, and a processor for checking the identity of the second device and pairing the first device with the second device.
