A vertical shaft impact crusher having an upright main frame; a hollow shaft journalled within and suspended by an antifriction bearing supported by a flexible supported housing; an impeller attached to said hollow shaft similar to gun lock means. A second frame within said main frame is elevated and lowered hydraulically and supports an annular rock chamber. Power means to rotate said hollow shaft. Hydraulic means to tighten drive belts from power means to shaft and to relax said belts; Hoppers above and below said shaft and impeller. A static tube within said hollow shaft delivers rock into impeller which propels rock at very high speeds; rocks are shattered by impact of rock against rock resulting in a finely crushed product; all crushing is contained within said chamber. Product falls into lower hopper and is conveyed away.

It has been said that the wheel is the greatest invention of all time; when horses or oxen pulled wagons, dirt roads or no roads sufficed, but the wheels of modern transportation require paved roads for cars and trucks, concrete air strips for airplanes, ballast for railroads, concrete for dams, buildings, and many other things. Rock is the material that answers all these needs, but rock must be crushed to usable sizes. Big boulders or quarried rock are crushed by primary stage jaw or very large gyratory crushers that reduces the rock to sizes that second stage crushers can accept, and if the rock needs to be very small a third stage is used. Cone crushers are the crushers of choice for second and often for third stage crushing which is the type crusher of this patent application.

Gyratory crusher with hydrostatic bearings

At least one core hole is provided adjacent an edge of a rock crusher component and removably receives a connector capable of attachment to a lifting line. In one embodiment, the connector is a bolt and the core hole has an enlarged portion for receiving a nut in a non-rotating fit. The nut receives a set screw plug when the bolt is removed. In another embodiment a hook and eye member is employed and the hook portion thereof engages the enlarged portion of the core hole. The connector includes a bracket that connects it with a lift line.

Lift line connection for rock crusher components

A gyratory rock crusher having a base seal and a cone seal. The cone seal has a recess for receiving a projecting portion of the base seal, and these portions have cooperating upper and lower spherical surfaces arranged for relative parallel movement upon gyratory movement of the cone. The projecting portion has a thickness less than the width of the recess and springs are provided for holding the base seal upwardly against the cone seal to provide sealing engagement between upper surfaces of the two seals and to provide a space between lower surfaces thereof. Forced air is moved into the recess by a plurality of ducts in the projecting portion and discharge of forced air is through the lower space whereby to block the entrance of contaminants into the crusher. A deflector is mounted on the end of the projecting portion to reverse movement of the incoming air and efficiently direct such air through the space for blocking the entrance of contaminants. Engaging surfaces of the cone and base seals are provided with a dust sealing insert and a thrust insert.

Dust seal for gyratory rock crushers

A first annular seal member on the base of a gyratory rock crusher is associated with a second annular seal member on the crusher cone. These two seal members have cooperating spherical surfaces which rub slidably together in the gyratory movements. An air sealing chamber is formed by the sealing members and other portions of the crusher and is associated with an annular groove in the first seal member having an inlet with a forced air system in an arrangement wherein air currents intercept dust moving along the spherical surfaces and also carry such dust away from inner portions of the crusher.

An annular seat member is supported between an annular base member and a load receiving member. The seat member is tapered toward its upper end and projects into an inverted V-shaped recess in the load receiving member. The tapered surfaces of the seat member have a plurality of annular grooves. Inserts are mounted in projecting relation from these grooves and are formed of a material which provides a long wearing bearing surface with the metal of the load receiving member.

Seat member for gyratory rock crusher bowls

Wood golf club heads are first subjected to a vacuum and then immersed in a solution of resin while under a source of vacuum condition. The heads are then subjected to an elevated pressure. The pressure is then removed and the heads dried. Apparatus for effectively carrying out the process utilizes a treatment chamber arranged to receive one or more of the heads. This chamber is associated with vacuum and elevated pressure supply apparatus to selectively subject the chamber to vacuum or pressure. A resin chamber is supported on top of the treatment chamber and has a valved conduit for controlling the supply of resin introduced to the treatment chamber.

Wood golf club heads, process of treating them, and apparatus

A screening basket has one or more screen decks and has upright side walls integrated with cross beams. A side beam, at approximately the center of gravity of the basket, is integrated with each of the side walls as well as with the cross beams to provide a unitary, rugged basket capable of vibratory movement on a support frame. A pair of cross shafts extend transversely of the screening basket and project beyond the side walls. These shafts are journaled in the side beams and have one projecting end geared together for opposite rotation. These projecting ends carry semi-circular eccentric weights of different mass to provide an oval vibratory stroke of the screening basket upon rotation of the shafts. Adjusting mechanism is provided to adjust the relative position of the weights on the shafts to vary the angle of stroke. These weights are arranged to receive auxiliary weights to vary the amplitude of vibratory stroke as well as the shape of the stroke.

Shaker screen

A scale is provided for establishing a swing inertia value of golf clubs by providing support means arranged to contact the grip portion of the club such that the axis of rotation of a person's grip on the grip portion of the club when in the act of swinging the club is disposed vertically above the pivotal axis of a balance beam of the scale. The scale supports a golf club for determining such swing inertia value and includes calibrations which comprise values determined by multiplying the head weight of the club by the length of the club shaft extending from the pivotal axis of the balance beam to the center of gravity of the club head. The scale can also be used to determine the head weight of a club.

Apparatus for determining the swing inertia of golf clubs

Oppositely facing surfaces have grooves in one of the surfaces and low coefficient of friction inserts in the grooves. The inserts have a thickness greater than the depth of the grooves so as to project from the grooves when seated therein for bearing against a facing surface and maintaining the two surfaces in spaced apart relation. Such inserts provide a reduced friction relation between the two surfaces whereby the two surfaces can be readily rotated between a working condition having a thrust load therebetween and a loosened non-working condition. Preferably, two or more of the grooves and inserts are provided, the inserts being held in the grooves by distorted portions in the walls of the grooves. The joint assembly of the invention is particularly applicable to rock crushers of the type having a threaded connecting joint between a bowl member and support therefor, whereby the low coefficient of friction inserts provide a liner or spacer which prevents galling of the threads under heavy load and provides for ready rotation of the two members when desired. The present joint assembly may also be used in association with the threads of a jam nut of a type which locks the bowl against rotation on the support, and furthermore may be used in unthreaded opposing surfaces between the jam nut and the support.

Joint assembly

A hosel is formed with an upwardly opening socket for receiving a shaft that has a projecting flange with an outer edge. A ball striking plate is manufactured in separate form from the hosel and is secured to the flange in desired positions of loft and other relationships. One or more weights are arranged to be secured to the rear side of the ball striking plate for providing a desired club head weight and center of gravity. A method of the invention includes the steps of forming a hosel and the ball striking plate as separate elements and then shaping and positioning the flange for securing the ball striking plate at the desired angle and position.

Golf iron and method of construction

A screening basket has one or more screen decks and has upright side walls integrated with cross beams. A side beam, at approximately the center of gravity of the basket, is integrated with each of the side walls as well as with the cross beams to provide a unitary, rugged basket capable of vibratory movement on a support frame. A pair of cross shafts extend transversely of the screening basket and project beyond the side walls. These shafts are journaled in the side beams and have one projecting end geared together for opposite rotation. These projecting ends carry eccentric weights of different mass to provide an oval vibratory stroke of the screening basket upon rotation of the shafts. Adjusting mechanism is provided to adjust the relative position of the weights on the shafts to vary the angle of stroke. These weights are arranged to receive auxiliary weights to vary the amplitude of vibratory stroke as well as the shape of the stroke. The screen decks include tensioning clamp mechanism on at least one end which also is adjustable for lateral alignment with the screening. The screen decks preferably comprise at least two sections with end and intermediate tensioning clamp mechanism. These screen sections are supported on cross beams in turn supported on end bars pivotally mounted centrally thereof to the side walls of the basket to conform precisely to the contour of the underside of the screen.

A base member has a face surface arranged to face a load receiving member. A plurality of grooves are provided in the face surface and bearing inserts are supported in these grooves. Such inserts project beyond the grooves and terminate in end bearing surfaces arranged to be engaged by the load receiving member. Lubrication inlets comprise cross grooves communicating with the insert receiving grooves whereby to supply lubrication under pressure to the area between the inserts. The system is associated with a high pressure source whereby oil is arranged to be forced over the end bearing surfaces of the inserts to provide a hydrostatic support for the loading receiving member. A water cooling passageway is provided in the base member.

Load bearing surface

An upright frame is secured to the base member of a rock crusher and supports a slide bar for horizontal movement. A fluid-operated cylinder is connected between the upright frame and the slide bar for driving the latter longitudinally in both directions, and a pivotal driver is mounted on the slide bar for movement into and out of engagement with projections on the crusher bowl. A second fluid-operated cylinder is connected between the slide bar and the driver for pivoting the latter between an inner engaging position with the projections and an outer release position. By suitable operation of the two fluid-operated cylinders, the bowl can be rotatably driven on threads on the base member for installing it and removing it. An upright extension is attachable to the slide bar and carries an auxiliary driver thereon disposed above the main driver so as to engage the projections on the bowl when such projections are above the plane of the main driver such as when installing or removing the bowl. A jam nut is employed to lock the bowl non-rotatably on its base member and such jam nut is driven by a fluid operated cylinder having adjusted mounted positions for repositioning such cylinder in the event of thread wear.

Power drive structure for rotating threadedly supported rock crusher

A gyrating cone-shaped head cooperates with a stationary bowl support to crush rock or the like admitted into the crusher. The gyrating action of the head is accomplished by an off-set shaft arrangement for the head driven by a rotatable eccentric member. Input drive for the crusher rotatably operates the eccentric member through an independent coupler for improved gear alignment, operation and maintenance. The head has gyrating support on a dished bearing surface of the main frame, and hydrostatic pressure is admitted between the head and the frame support to minimize wear. Also, a fluid lift is provided for portions of the drive apparatus to support such parts and eliminate thrust loading caused by the weight of such parts on a radial roller bearing, thereby prolonging the useful life of the bearing. An improved seal is provided between the head and the main frame and is of a structure to remain intact and to operate effectively under all normal operating conditions of the crusher. Fluid operated apparatus is used to provide a pressure hold-down for the bowl and also fluid operated apparatus is provided for adjusting the bowl rotatably and for locking the bowl securely.
