Disclosed are anti-thrombogenic compositions, methods for their production and products made therefrom. The Anti-thrombogenic compositions comprise a powderized anti-thrombogenic material homogeneously present in a solidifiable matrix material. The anti-thrombogenic material is preferably carbon and more preferably graphite particles. The matrix material is a silicon polymer, a urethane polymer or an acrylic polymer.

Anti-thrombogenic elastomer and objects and prostheses made therefrom

A centrifuge is provided which has a stationary core and a bowl rotatively mounted about the core. The bowl can be configured so that it does not taper inwardly from top to bottom. The bowl has an upwardly extending neck which receives the stationary core. To provide a seal between the core and bowl, a lip seal can be employed which is emplaced about an upwardly extending nut formed integrally of the core or a face seal can be employed between a shoulder of the nut and a shoulder of the neck.

Centrifuge

A totally or partially implantable fluid delivery system actuated by a valveless piezoelectric drive system. The drive system may actuate an artificial heart by a hydraulic bladder or directly actuate a human heart. The drive system has an output with a frequency and displacement sufficient to directly drive a human or artificial heart and includes a control circuit for recapturing and reusing the power driving the piezoelectric drive system. An artificial heart which includes two check valves having a flexible valve element and supporting tabs on opposite sides.

Piezoelectric fluid pumping system for use in the human body

The bowl has an upwardly extending neck which receives the stationary core. To provide a seal between the core and bowl, a lip seal can be employed which is emplaced about an upwardly extending neck of the bowl and abuts an outwardly and downwardly extending nut formed integrally of the core or a face seal can be employed between a shoulder of the nut and a shoulder of the neck.

A hemocompatible flexible diaphragm and flexible wall pumping chamber positioned in a rigid body and actuated by alternating positive and negative fluid pulses. An inlet valve and an outlet valve are integrally molded in the pumping chamber. The diaphragm and pumping chamber are preferably molded of an elastomer. The pump is atraumatic, inexpensive and the pumping chamber and diaphragm are disposable.
