There is provided a sleeper sofa including a sofa frame, a main support frame, and a bed frame engageable with the sofa frame and main support frame. The sofa frame includes first and second arm portions, and a backrest portion extending therebetween. The main support frame is connected to at least one of the first and second arm portions to fixedly connect the main support frame to the sofa frame. The bed frame includes a first section and a second section pivotally connected to the first section via a hinge. The sleeper sofa further includes a guide plate defining an arcuate guide slot, which communicates with a guide post connected to the second section of the bed frame. The guide post travels in the guide slot to lower and raise the second section of the bed frame as the bed frame moves between the retracted and extended positions.

A convertible sofa-bed which is easy to convert between a sofa configuration and a bed configuration is provided. From a sofa configuration, a buttock-foot member may be pulled outward. Simultaneously, a head rest member and back rest member which are initially at a generally vertical position are traversed to a generally horizontal position. When the buttock-foot member is fully traversed outward (i.e., extended position), the head rest member, back rest member and the buttock-foot member are generally substantially co-planar and generally horizontal. This provides a firm bed surface. From the bed configuration, head rest member and the back rest member may be buckled to allow the buttock-foot member to be pushed inward. The buttock-foot member is then pushed fully inward (i.e., retracted position) until the head rest member and the back rest member are in the generally vertical position with the buttock-foot member and back rest member forming a seat.

A method, system, and computer program product are disclosed for diagnosing and recovering from I/O subsystem errors. A data processing system includes a computer which includes a power subsystem and at least one I/O subsystem. A determination is made that an error occurred in the I/O subsystem. Registers in integrated circuits included within the I/O subsystem are accessed utilizing the power subsystem in order to diagnose the error while the I/O subsystem is in an error state.

Method, system, and product for utilizing a power subsystem to diagnose and recover from errors

A method and an apparatus is present for dynamically allocating a set of output interrupt lines at a host adapter to a set of input interrupt lines for card slots controlled by the host adapter. If the number of input interrupt lines is greater than the number of output lines, then interrupt sharing is necessary. The number of input interrupt lines can be determined automatically by scanning all the card slots or can be determined by values stored in lookup tables. The algorithm to determine a logical mapping of the input interrupt lines to the output lines, in cases where interrupt sharing is required, can be based on a number of factors. A simple approach is to distribute the interrupts as equally as possible. Another algorithm may take into account the expected frequency of interrupts based on the device involved. Yet another approach may use a set of predetermined priorities. Since these algorithms are implemented in firmware or software, they can be changed to meet a particular set of needs. Once the mapping is determined, the input interrupt lines are electronically connecting to the output interrupt lines using &ldquo;glue logic&rdquo; associated with the host adapter. After this mapping is accomplished, an interrupt mapping table is built and sent to the operating system.

Method and apparatus for dynamic allocation of interrupt lines through interrupt sharing

A method, system, and apparatus for customizing procedures to be performed during an initialization process in a data processing system is provided. In one embodiment, a class of procedures to omit during the initialization process is determined. This class of procedures may be for example, the omission of identifying and creating nodes for a certain class of drives, such as, for example, all ssa drives. Once procedures to omit from the initialization process are determined, then all other initialization procedures are performed except, of course, for the procedures belonging to the class of procedures determined to be omitted.

Mechanism to disable the gathering of time consuming unnecessary information at boottime

A method, system, and apparatus for managing a failed input/output adapter within a data processing system is provided. In one embodiment, an operating system handler receives an indication that one of a plurality of input/output adapters has failed. The operating system handler consults an error log to determine which input/output adapter has failed. Once the bad input/output adapter has been determined, the operating system handler disables the bad input/output adapter and deallocates any processes bound for the bad input/output adapter without powering down the data processing system. A user is then notified of the bad input/output adapter so that the bad input/output adapter can be replaced. The input/output adapter may be replaced without powering down the data processing system. Once the bad input/output adapter has been replace, the new input/output adapter is enabled.
