A multifunction peripheral (MFP) includes user selectable functions that call home applications on the device that direct it to work cooperatively with cloud service providers. To avoid requiring users to login to each cloud service each time they use it, they are registered with an authorization server to establish and grant identity and authorization tokens. When a user logs in to an MFP, they are redirected to login to the authorization server which then sends tokens to the MFP identifying the user and their permissions and licenses. Home applications associated by the tokens are displayed for selection. Each time a home application using a cloud service is selected, a background application sends the user's session tokens with a service request to an associated cloud service resource server. The resource servers processes authenticated requests and return the result to the MFP which completes the selected home application function. Therefore, the user is able to use multiple cloud services without need to login to them.

System and method for single sign on across multiple applications with license enablement

A system and method directs promotional information, such as coupons of possible interest to a user, when they release their cloud-stored print job from a multifunction peripheral at their selected location. The user is identified, along with their location, and promotional information of possible relevance to the user is displayed on the multifunction peripheral touchscreen. Information selected by the user will be printed out along with their released print job. Businesses register and store their promotional information with the cloud print server, and may be assessed a fee when their literature is printed.

A system and method for maintaining and optimizing a fleet of multifunction peripherals is operated by use of a smartphone. The smartphone provides recommendations to configure multifunction peripherals or other equipment fleets to avoid service calls. The smartphone is configured to allow a user to review device status for a fleet of multifunction peripherals so that the user knows which multifunction peripherals will need attention. The system provides the user with alerts of issues, with predictions before issues occur, and with a prescription for what to do so that the user can resolve the issue themselves. The system further provides recommendations based on needs, usage, and other customer usage or purchase data to allow the user to review multifunction peripherals, purchase services, install options and configure devices in the fleet for optimization.

A system and method for automated service call initiation for a multifunction peripheral includes applying optical character recognition to a digital image of an affixed asset tag captured by a smartphone or tablet camera to determine a service agency name and initial contact information. A dealer database is queried with the service agency name and initial contact information, and corresponding information about the service agency, customer or device is received. Information about a current state of the multifunction peripheral is received. A service request or order is selectively sent by a user via the smartphone or tablet to the service agency in accordance with information from the dealer database and the current state of the multifunction peripheral.

A system and method for power management by intelligent print queue management includes a processor and a memory storing a print job queue. The memory also stores data corresponding to a plurality of users associated history of printed document pickup times relative to their print job transmission time. A network interface receives print jobs into the queue and the processor determines an anticipated pickup time for a printout of the first print job to be picked up in accordance with history data, and schedules printing of the first print job in accordance its associated, anticipated job pickup time such that the print job is printed before that time, factoring in a device warmup time and time to print the first print job.

The memory stores cost data corresponding to device usage costs of one or more MFPs. An analytics engine generates a graphical dashboard illustrative of a return on investment in accordance with the cost data and monitored device states. A display generator renders an image of the graphical dashboard. The graphical dashboard is altered in accordance with modified or updated state data acquired over time in accordance with device usage changes or device configuration changes.

A system and method for paper jam prediction includes a processor, memory and a network interface. Ongoing paper jam data is received from an identified, networked multifunction peripheral. Service call data for the multifunction peripheral indicative of prior service calls is stored in the memory. A sampling window of the paper jam data prior to a service call date is defined and a point in the sampling window when no symptoms of a forthcoming paper jam were present is determined so as to define a prediction window. A relationship between paper jam data in the prediction window of the sampling window and paper jam data outside the prediction window in the sampling window is determined and incoming paper jam data is monitored relative to the relationship data. A paper jam warning is generated when monitored incoming paper jam data indicates a forthcoming paper jam on the multifunction peripheral.

A device controller with processor and associated memory commences electronic notarization upon receipt of a notary request. A tangible document is scanned into electronic form under direction of the controller. The user is prompted for execution of a verified document. User input corresponding to execution of the verified document is obtained and an electronic notarization is executed. A system and method for selecting and registering applications associated with operation of a multifunction peripheral includes a processor, a network interface and a memory. A plurality of user selectable applications for operation of a multifunction peripheral controller is stored. Each customization group includes a plurality of electronic files, and each customization group corresponds to a unique business type. A plurality of device customization data sets, each data set corresponding to document processing in the multifunction peripheral are also stored. Indicia are displayed identifying customization groups by business type. At least one user selected application is identified. A customizations menu listing available customizations from the selected identified customization group is generated. A user selects one or more applications from the customizations menu. A determination is made as to whether each application associated with the user application selection input is registered. Each unregistered application is registered.

System and method for remote device interface customization

A system and method for application reporting by a multifunction peripheral includes a document processing device having an intelligent controller controlling operations of the multifunction peripheral, including operation of a scanner engine and a print engine. A memory stores a plurality of user selectable applications for the controller. The controller executes at least one user selectable application selected from a library of available applications. The processor determines when one or more of the user selectable applications are launched. The processor outputs status data relative to monitored application launches to an associated server via a network interface.

A system and method for customized multifunction peripherals includes a controller having a processor and a memory that stores identified electronic customization groups each including electronic files, such as forms, applications, screen backgrounds, company logos, screen positioning information, and labels corresponding to a unique business type. Further stored in the memory are device customization data sets corresponding to document processing operations for the multifunction peripheral. The processor generates indicia on the display identifying each customization group by business type and receives a user selection of a selected identified customization group selected from the indicia. The processor generates, on the display, a customizations menu listing available customizations associated with a user's identity from the selected identified customization group. The processor generates, on the display, a document processing options menu including document processing options corresponding to a portion of the device customization data sets associated with the selected identified customization group.

The memory also stores device customization data sets, each corresponding to document processing in the multifunction peripheral. A system and method for document translation during transmission includes digital device, such as a multifunction peripheral, that includes an input for electronic document data, such as with a scanner or facsimile machine input interface. A user interface receives destination address data corresponding to a plurality of document delivery destinations as specified by a user. A memory stores language selection data for each of the plurality of document delivery destinations, as well as web service address information corresponding to at least one cloud-based document processing service including a document translation service. A processor communicates document output data, corresponding to the electronic document, and the language selection data to the at least one document translation service via a network interface, and the translated document is sent to one or more destinations as specified by the destination address data.
