Disclosed is a building and construction material and process including multiple layers and vermiculite ore in at least one layer. A substrate layer may have one or more layers on top or on the bottom of it. Numerous compounds may be used in one or more of the layers including asphaltic compound, polymer modified asphalt compound, thermoplastic polymer compound and others. The layers may also include synergistic flame retardant and fillers. And disclosed is a process to manufacture the building and construction material.

Flame retardant building construction material and process

A device and process for applying a quick dry rapid set aqueous solution. An indicator of a selected color and composition is added to an accelerator to be applied along with a resin. The tinted color indicator is typically blue and allows the user to determine if the proper mixture is being applied. The indicator is visible only during application and disappears after application. The resin and accelerator are applied using an airless spray mechanism with delivery systems and spray gun. The spray gun has 2 nozzles and the capability to set the angle between the nozzles.

Process and device for quick dry and or rapid set aqueous external coatings

The apparatus and process disclosed relates to the application of a pattern on a material such as roof covering or siding where the surface is coated with media to create a three dimensional pattern. The 3-D pattern is created in multiple detailed steps so that the width of the pattern can be of an adjustable size in order to make the pattern more diverse and variable. The apparatus and method disclosed herein utilizes a series of applicator units which apply media in a pattern or without a specific pattern onto the material. The first applicator unit is designed to be the master applicator unit. Each applicator unit can include a separate drive or motor. The apparatus and process disclosed incorporates one or more slave applicator units. These slave pattern applicator units with slave pattern applicator rolls are synchronized to the master pattern applicator roll located in the master applicator unit.

Apparatus and process to create 3-D pattern on material

A coating composition for granular roofing has a liquid phase, such as a water, vinyl copolymer or a modified acrylic, and a material with high reflectance, such as CaCO, TiO, ceramic microspheres, nano-particles, talc dispersed therein to yield a low-viscosity coating. The coating is applied to a granular surface in a thin layer that does not significantly disturb the granular aesthetics, but covers the base material, e.g., modified bitumen, at least partially, to increase the overall reflectivity of the material. In some embodiments, the coating improves the physical integrity of the granular surface and increases resistance to environmental effects and may perform a pigment function. In one embodiment, the coating is applied as a powder followed by the application of a liquid. In another embodiment, the coating includes a water repellant.

Building construction material with high solar reflectivity

A building material product and a method of making building material products, having increased resistance to granule rub off and staining. The building material product comprises a substrate having embedded granules and an acrylic latex coating positioned on the granules, where the polymer of the acrylic latex coating has the repeating structural unit [CH&#x2014;C(R)(R)], where Ris hydrogen or C-Calkyl; Ris hydrogen, cyano or &#x2014;COOR; and R is a linear or branched hydrocarbon containing 1-22 carbon atoms, with the proviso that Rand Rare both not hydrogen. The method includes applying this acrylic latex water based composition to a granule embedded substrate.

Method for coating granulated products to improve granule adhesion, staining, and tracking

A sound barrier membrane comprises of a decoupling layer, a barrier layer and a dampening layer. The membrane also provides crack isolation, and acts as a vapor barrier. Numerous materials are disclosed which can be used to create these layers. Methods for assembly of the sound barrier membrane are also disclosed.

Coating for granulated products to improve granule adhesion, staining, and tracking

An apparatus is provided for applying a construction material, the apparatus having construction and an infrared heat emitter for providing infrared heat on the construction material. The construction material can be a roll of roofing material, which can be a roll of modified asphalt/bitumen roofing membrane material. The infrared emitter can be gas powered or electric powered. A method of applying a roofing membrane is also provided, where construction material is heated using infrared heat and applied onto a rooftop or other suitable surface.

Use of infrared technology to install and/or repair construction membranes

This invention relates to a roofing or siding membrane comprising a non-woven mat coated with an asphaltic composition containing, in addition to 35-75 wt. % bitumen, a mixture of isotactic and amorphous propylene polymers and between about 0.08 and about 15 wt. % of a functionalized, olefin polymer to provide a non-staining membrane of high tensile strength, low polyolefin content with respect to asphalt, improved compatibility between asphalt and non-functionalized polymers and reduced light end asphalt and polymer exudates. The invention also relates to a method for preparing the membrane.

Roofing membrane

This invention relates to a stabilized, flame retardant roofing mat or sheeting impregnated with a composition comprising, a copolymeric styrene modified asphalt and a critical amount of between 35 and about 50 wt. % of colemanite. The invention also relates to the novel flame retardant composition which can be employed for treating roofing reinforcement and building siding material.

An adhesive composition for roofing such as shingles is disclosed which is composed of a hard asphaltic bitumen fraction having a penetration number at 77.degree. F. of from 0 to 30 dmm and a softening point of from about 150.degree. to 220.degree. F. and an elastomeric composition composed of a thermoplastic elastomer and a plasticizer wherein the overall adhesive composition has a penetration number of from 30 to 100 dmm at 130.degree. F. and a softening point of 140.degree. to 230.degree. F. The inventive composition is self-sealing and exhibits excellent squash resistance, low temperature properties and resistance to blowoff. The composition can be used with shingles as well as other types of roofing coverings.

Low temperature sealing adhesive composition

A device for the spot application of molten asphaltic composition to spot locations comprising a rod of solid, modified bitumen adapted for heating and end thereof. The softened or molten composition at the end can easily and conveniently be delivered to spot locations.

Polyisocyanurate foam in which the polyol content is largely a polyol mixture prepared by the transesterification with a glycol of a residue obtained from the manufacture of dimethyl terephthalate and in which the foam has been prepared using fluorocarbon blowing agent and amine triol to improve compatibility between the polyol and the blowing agent.
