In one example, a method may include monitoring an e-turbo parameter or an engine parameter, comparing the monitored e-turbo or engine parameter to a determined threshold value for the e-turbo or engine parameter, and signaling a status of the e-turbo in response to the monitored e-turbo or engine parameter differing from the determined threshold value by at least a threshold amount.

Methods and systems for an electric turbocharger

Various methods and systems are provided for an open vane nozzle for a turbine. In one example, the turbine may include at least one bias device arranged at an interface between a nozzle ring and a turbine shroud. The at least one bias device may be configured to exert an axial force on the nozzle ring to maintain contact between vane tips of the nozzle ring and a volute wall.

A rotary assembly is provided that may be operably connected to an engine. The rotary assembly may include a rotary device comprising a turbine wheel, a shaft connected to the turbine wheel, and a case that houses the shaft and the turbine wheel. The turbine wheel may receive exhaust gas from the engine which causes rotation of the turbine wheel and the shaft. The case may include an interior surface that defines a hollow volume in which the turbine wheel and the shaft are located. The case has a radial thickness extending from the interior surface to an exterior surface of the case. The case may include a lattice structure integrated within the radial thickness of the case. The lattice structure may include a repeating three-dimensional array of frame segments connected to one another at junctions and defining interstitial spaces between the frame segments.

In one example, a turbocharger comprises a shaft coupling a compressor wheel to a turbine wheel, an electric machine including a stator encircling the shaft between the compressor wheel and the turbine wheel, and an oil supply passage formed in a housing of the electric machine and fluidly coupled to a first oil nozzle oriented toward the shaft.

A turbocharger device includes a case having a turbine portion and a bearing portion connected to and extending from the turbine portion. The turbine portion defines a cavity that houses a turbine wheel and receives exhaust gas that rotates the turbine wheel. The bearing portion houses a shaft connected to the turbine wheel. The bearing portion has a radial thickness between an exterior surface and an interior surface. The interior surface defines a central channel. The bearing portion holds a bearing system that supports the shaft within the central channel. The bearing portion includes a lattice structure within the radial thickness. The lattice structure is a repeating three-dimensional array of frame segments connected to one another at junctions. The lattice structure engages a turbine back wall that is located between the turbine portion and the bearing portion. The lattice structure defines interstitial spaces between the frame segments.

In one example, a turbomachine includes a case and a rotor rotatably coupled to the case and configured to transfer energy between the rotor and a working fluid. The case includes a shroud housing the rotor, the shroud including an inner shell, an outer shell, and a lattice structure positioned between the inner shell and the outer shell.
