A mobile communication device. The mobile communication device comprises a long-range radio transceiver, a processor, a memory, an input device, and an application, stored in the memory. When executed by the processor the application receives input from the input device, wherein the input comprises text symbols having an initial format and at least one specialty code, creates a short message comprising the text symbols formatted in a transmission format based on a formatting command identified by the at least one specialty code, wherein the transmission format is different from the initial format, and transmits the short message via the long-range radio transceiver.

Automated short message formatting commanded by embedded specialty codes

A method, system and medium are provided for automatically routing an incoming call to one active wireless-telecommunications device of a set of devices associated with a single wireless-telecommunications-network subscriber. A proximity-based relationship is created between a primary device and a nonprimary device. Upon receiving an indication that the primary device is within a threshold proximity of the nonprimary device, a request is communicated to the network to associate a set of user credentials of the primary device and a set of hardware credentials of the primary device with the nonprimary device. The nonprimary device is thereby activated so that it can receive an incoming call. The primary device is deactivated so that the subscriber can only receive an incoming call on one device at a time.

Proximity-based device switching

A method, system and medium are provided for receiving an incoming call on a target wireless-telecommunications device. A secure communication path is established between a primary device and a nonprimary device, and a proximity-based relationship is created between the primary device and the nonprimary device. The primary device has associated with it a set of user credentials and a set of hardware credentials. When the nonprimary device comes within a threshold proximity of the primary device, the primary device automatically communicates the set of user credentials and the set of hardware credentials to the nonprimary device thereby activating it so that it can receive an incoming call. The primary device is deactivated so that a wireless-telecommunications-network subscriber can only receive an incoming call on one device at a time.

Proximity-based device switching using proxy credentials

A wireless communication device communicates using a Long Term Evolution (LTE) wireless protocol and a different wireless protocol. The wireless device processes a first user input to direct a wireless transceiver to transmit and receive using the different wireless protocol and to direct a wireless paging receiver receive using the LTE wireless protocol. The transceiver then transmits and receives using the different wireless protocol, and the paging receiver receives pages using the LTE wireless protocol. The device processes a second user input to direct the transceiver to transmit and receive using the LTE wireless protocol, and the transceiver uses the LTE wireless protocol. In some examples, the device also processes the second user input to direct the paging receiver to receive other pages using the different wireless protocol, and the paging receiver receives the other pages using the different wireless protocol.

Wireless communication device with both a wireless transceiver and a wireless paging receiver

A wireless communication device receives a first user instruction to execute a first application requiring first wireless communications. The device selects a first wireless protocol for the first wireless communications based on the first application. A transceiver in the device exchanges the first wireless communications with a first wireless communication access node using the first wireless protocol and monitors a first paging channel of the first wireless protocol. A paging receiver monitors a second paging channel of a second wireless protocol in response to the application-based selection of the first wireless protocol.

A wireless communication device is disclosed for scanning a preferred roaming list (PRL) in a non-roaming mode. The wireless communication device exchanges wireless communications with a first wireless communication network and monitors communication performance of the first wireless communication network while operating in a non-roaming mode. The wireless communication device processes the PRL to perform scans for a pilot signal from a second wireless communication network while operating in the non-roaming mode. The wireless communication device subsequently performs a time correlation of the communication performance of the first wireless communication network and the scans for the pilot signal of the second wireless communication network to determine that a roaming mode should be entered. The roaming mode is then entered and the wireless communication device exchanges wireless communications with the second wireless communication network while operating in the roaming mode.

Performance scanning and correlation in wireless communication devices

Systems, products, and methods are disclosed for enabling a user to receive a message at the time of an incoming call. One embodiment of the method includes receiving a set of dialed digits from a calling device, recognizing a code in the dialed digits, and sending display information (based on the code) to a target device, which presents the display information before the call is answered.

Presenting messaging prior to answering a call

In a wireless communication device, a geographic location system determines a geographic location of the wireless communication device. A power monitoring system determines battery power status for the wireless communication device. A transmit diversity control system determines a transmit diversity instruction for the geographic location. The transmit diversity control system processes the transmit diversity instruction and the battery power status to select a transmit diversity mode (on/off). The transmit diversity control system controls a plurality of power amplifiers to implement the selected transmit diversity mode.
