A scrotum guard for male use comprises substantially identical side walls sealed along edges thereof to establish a sheath formed with an insertion opening. When the guard is in place by inserting the scrotum through the opening, the opening is firmly and gently clamped to grip the genitals by means of hook and loop fastening strips providing an infinitely adjustable fit. A series of elastic gatherers or pleats formed along an edge portion of the opening cooperate with the hook and loop fastening strips to improve retention of the guard in the protective position.

There is disclosed a method for upgrading of hydrocarbon mixtures, so as to reduce their content of gum precursors such as diolefins and pseudo-diolefins, and provide a resulting product mixture suitable for mild hydrogenation, for use as a motor fuel or as a feed stock to an extraction unit. The process comprises obtaining a hydrocarbon mixture containing about 60-90 wt. % of aromatic components, about 3-40 wt. % of dienes and pseudodienes, and monoolefins, and up to about 6 wt. % of relatively unreactive organic compounds, reacting this mixture with elemental sulfur in the approximate weight ratio of about 5-95 wt. % of the hydrocarbon mixture with about 95-5 wt. % of elemental sulfur, the reaction being carried out at a temperature in the range of 100.degree.-150.degree. C. for about 10 minutes to 24 hours with good mixing, removing the unreacted materials by distillation and separating a sulfur-hydrocarbon reaction product to provide the upgraded hydrocarbon mixture.

Method for upgrading diene-containing hydrocarbon mixtures

A novel sulfur-based adduct formed by reacting sulfur with a diene-containing by-product hydrocarbon mixture available from petrochemical operations and/or from coal processing. The adduct is a reaction product of sulfur and each of the dienes contained in the by-product mixture. Also disclosed is a road surface composition containing this adduct as an asphalt extender or as a replacement for asphalt, and there are also disclosed other compositions containing this adduct such as sulfur cements, sulfur concretes, coatings, foams, structural materials and insulators.

Production of White Oils of sufficient purity to pass the Hot Acid Carbonizable Substances Test and Ultraviolet Absorbance Test is carried out in two stages utilizing lubricating oil feedstock of a broad range of viscosities. The first stage hydrogenation utilizes a sulfur-resistant catalyst which produces an intermediate product of lower viscosity than the starting feedstock. The second stage hydrogenation catalyst is nickel on alumina and is further characterized as having a BET surface area in the range of 130-190 m.sup.2 /g. SU

Two-stage process for manufacture of white oils

This invention relates to a substantially hydrogen saturated hydrocarbon product formed by the hydrogenation of waxy polyethylene alpha-olefin having an average molecular weight of about 350 to about 900. The hydrogenation is conducted at pressures ranging from about 200 psig to about 1000 psig and at hydrogenating temperatures below about 750.degree. F in the presence of a conventional active hydrogenation catalyst. The resulting product may be utilized as a substitute for petroleum wax in the production of various compositions, such as carpet backing compositions, candle wax compositions, pressure sure sensitive tape, paper coating compositions, coatings for fruit, rust preventatives, cosmetics, and similar products. In such compositions the novel hydrogenated alpha olefins may be substituted for petroleum wax as customarily used or it may be used as an extender in any desired proportion with petroleum wax.
