When, according to the invention, the air in the so-called Zoneareas is ventilated, i.e. sucked out, the ATEX Directive concerning treatment of inflammable coolants may be satisfied in an effective manner. In practice, the suction around the engine () of the vehicle and the ventilation of the service equipment (), respectively, may ensure that the requirements in the ATEX Directive with respect to Zoneareas may be satisfied, if possibly inflammable vapors are discharged, since these areas are ventilated to the atmosphere. The use of the method is service-friendly when servicing air conditioning systems and when adding coolant online.

Method and equipment for servicing cooling systems in vehicles

To ensure precise charging of a coolant into a cooling system () via a hose (), temperature sensors (Ts and Te) and pressure sensors (Ps and Pe) are mounted at the inlet side and/or outlet side of the hose (). A signal may be applied from these sensors to a computer (), which is capable of calculating the amount pumped through the hose () and thereby controlling it via a valve (). It is ensured in this manner that the charged amount is determined on the basis of its density and not, as was previously the case, solely on the basis of a weight control.

In a method for servicing an air conditioning system of a motor vehicle, surrounding areas in which there is a risk of leakage of inflammable coolant is ventilated such that air in the surrounding areas is suctioned out and discharged from the surrounding areas.

A method of filling refrigerant into a refrigeration system by means of a filling system comprising a tank includes the step of pressurizing the tank by means of a conditioning process to a predetermined differential pressure above the saturation pressure of the actual ambient temperature before the refrigerant is filled into the refrigeration system.

Method and system for filling a refrigerant into a refrigeration system

According to the invention, there is described a method and a system which use a compressor () for filling COinto an air conditioning system () via an oil filter () and a gas cooler (). COmay be pumped to an internal pressure container (), and from there the air conditioning system () may be filled with COin gas form via valves (). The fill system may additionally include a heat exchanger (), so that a temperature may be controlled in the pressure container () so that it does not exceed 31.8 C, whereby COmay be filled into the air conditioning system () in liquid form.
